ADAMETCO
Membership: Colleen Shore, no other employees named
Affiliations: Supplier to U.S. Government
Enemies: Overrider and Tess-One
Base of Operations: Adametco Plant, southern New Jersey
First Appearance: Captain America Annual#8 (1986)
History: Little is known about Adametco, except that it is the world's largest supplier of the indestructible metal alloy Adamantium.
(Captain America Annual#8) - The anti-nuclear terrorist Overrider forced the employees of Adametco to coat the Tess-One robot with Adamantium in order to further his plan to bury the world's nuclear arsenal in the floor of the ocean.
(Quasar#5) - The Absorbing Man broke into Adametco, hospitalized three security guards, stole a small piece of Adamantium, and flew off. They sent a distress call to the Avengers, who sent Quasar, who tracked down and defeated the Absorbing Man.
(Marc Spector: Moon Knight#39) - Colleen Shore of Adametco attended a party at the Latverian Consulate, where she encountered her one-time date Marc Spector.
Features: Adametco has developed a procedure to coat other objects with Adamantium. This involves: (1) covering all joints with a heat resistant sealant to prevent the Adamantium from hardening them, (2) loading the target onto a conveyor belt where the Adamantium resins are kept molten inside a furnace, (3) spraying the target with several quarter-inch applications, (4) cooling and hardening phase. When this process is complete, the target will be virtually indestructible and will have maintained 100% of its original mobility.
Adametco has an advanced security system, consisting of 24-hour sentries patrolling a chain link fence, a radar tower scanning its airspace, an alarm system able to detect any structural damage to the fence, and a guarded gate. Nonetheless, neither Overrider nor Wolverine had significant trouble sneaking into the facility.
COMMENTS: Created by Mark Gruenwald and Mike Zeck.
