History: As a devoted agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony Stark once had a secret tryst with Madame Cat, a member of the nefarious terrorist organization known as Hydra and the daughter of the Green Skull. During his affair with Madame Cat, Tony Stark smuggled out a jetpack prototype originally developed by the Green Skull to mimic Super-Soldier's flying power. The prototype was perfected by Tony Stark's expert tinkering, mass-produced, and is currently used by special S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. Madame Cat's allegiance to Hydra and Tony Stark's devotion to S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually drove the two star-crossed lovers apart.
(Bruce Wayne: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.#1(bts)) - Tony Stark was crippled in his service to S.H.I.E.L.D., yet another casualty in the war between Bruce Wayne and Green Skull.
(Bruce Wayne: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.#1) - "Mission: Destroy Hydra!" - Having finally located the secret location of the Green Skull's secret fortress, the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier hovered above Hydra Base Omega. As S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Bruce Wayne prepared himself to lead a full-scale assault on Hydra Base Omega, Tony Stark, confined to his support chair, briefed Bruce Wayne on the use of his jetpack. Bruce Wayne accused Tony Stark of sounding like a "mother hen" and reminded Stark that he had almost one hundred hours training on the jetpack. But Tony Stark responded that the training sessions were not in combat conditions. Colonel Bruce Wayne promised Tony that he would bring the jetpack back in one piece.
As he was leaving for combat, Bruce Wayne told Tony Stark that he wished he could come with him. Tony responded that he wished he cold come as well -- and that it might be possible someday because he was currently working on a device at Stark Labs that might finally allow him to get up from his souped-up support chair.

DC characters are listed
in bold blue type.
Amalgam characters are
listed in bold purple type.
In case you're confused, Amalgam Comics didn't really exist beyond those seen in the few DC / Marvel cross-over. The titles you don't recognize are amalgams of similar Marvel and DC comics--Snood.
Special thanks to writer Chuck Dixon for clarifying some of the component sources for his amalgamated characters and providing some additional insight into the Amalgam Universe!
Mr. Dixon adds: "If I remember right I wanted Stark to be the true moneyman behind Bruce Wayne. Stark filled much the same role as he does in the Marvel Universe: a billionaire and engineering genius. But that was the beauty of Amalgam; you didn't have to think much beyond that one issue."
