Powers/Abilities: The Bat was a typical bank robber, armed with a gun.
History: (Rawhide Kid I#25)- The Rawhide Kid stopped in a town which had been plagued by robberies commited by a local thief named "The Bat." Many feared that the Rawhide Kid himself was the Bat, and he encountered considerable difficulty from the townsfolk, particularly one Seth Wilson. Rawhide visited Mr. Harper, owner a local bank, to ask him if he could deposit in his bank, but Harper refused to accept his money.
Rawhide was then beset upon by Harper's wife and daughter, who deplored his behavior, and again by Seth Wilson, who was engaged to marry Harper's daughter. Rawhide left, fuming with anger.
Later, the Bat robbed another bank, and the Rawhide Kid rode after him, in the hopes of clearing his reputation. Afraid of the Kid, the Bat rode hard, until his horse tripped and fell. The Bat continued on foot, desperate to get away, until he ran right into the path of a mountain lion. He panicked at the sight of the cat, and as it leapt at him, he fell off the edge of a cliff.
The Rawhide Kid came down to see if he was still alive, and was shocked when he unmasked the Bat as Mr. Harper himself. Harper confessed that his bank had been losing money, and that he had been stealing to cover up the losses. He then passed away.
Seth Wilson witnessed these events, and Rawhide asked him to tell everyone that he was the Bat, so that Harper's reputation would be safe. Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers.
