Real Name: Bryson Bale
Identity/Class: Human/Mutant (UK)
Occupation: Terrorist
Affiliations: The Brotherhood
Enemies: Malcolm Reeves
Known Relatives: Tracy (Younger sister; deceased); Unnamed
mother (deceased)
Aliases: None
Base Of Operations: Tintagel, England
First Appearence: The Brotherhood#4 (October, 2001)
Powers/Abilities: Enhanced strength; According to him, his
nerve endings are cut off, so he feels no pain (More on that
later)
Weaknesses: Falling off a really high building
History: According to him, he has a "typical mutant bio". His powers surfaced slightly after puberty. The townfolk got word of his abilities and burnt down his house. His younger sister Tracy died in said fire and his mother died a month later of grief. Filled with rage, the Brotherhood offered him a chance to channel it.
(The Brotherhood#4) Bryson, along with Bela, Clive and Fiona attempt to kidnap Malon Reeves, the rich mutant daughter of the rich mutant Malcolm Reeves (The mutant thing is supposed to be a secret) Things go bad and Malon runs Clive over, so Bryson forces Bela to drain away his life so he doesn't die slowly. Malon retreats to a nightclub she frequents, but Bryson and the rest reach it and kill a whole bunch of people. Malon unleashes her mutant powers on Bela and Fiona, but Bryson just knocks her out with a swift backhand. Bryson promises Orwell, who has been watching in the shadows, that he will break Malon in.
(The Brotherhood#5) Back at their hideout, Bryson prevents Bela from torturing Malon anymore, saying she's one of them. He takes Malon for a car ride and tells her they're visiting her Uncle Peri's clinic. Showing her that it is basically a mutant abortion clinic where they do tests on unborn mutant fetuses, they burn it down.
(The Brotherhood#6) Bryson is shown in a video alongside Malon, who destroys one of her father's information satellites, then kisses him. Back at their hideout, Bryson is starting to worry that X is hiding something. He then explained his background to Malon before laying on the sensitive guy schtick pretty thick, but before they get too far, Fagin yells at them for making him and Asher feel like outcasts. A military strike team then shoots up the house and tells Malcolm Reeves that all that is left is to retrieve the bodies... Which doesn't bother him in the least. Of course, our good terrorist buddies made it out and have a meeting in the sewers. Bryson gives Fagin some money and tells him to start over, then tells Asher to go back to his family. Later, Malcolm Reeves is shocked to see his daughter and Bryson show up at his office. Malcolm exposes himself as a mutant and Bryson attacks him to protect Malon. Telling her he loves her, he wrestles Malcolm out the window, where they drop. In some dark room in some random location, Hoffman and Orwell discuss the fall of the London cell now that Bryson is dead.
Comments: Created by X and Leonardo Manco
I think in comic world, grief is the#1 leading cause of death to mothers.
You killed my friend, I kidnapped you, my friends tortured you, your family are anti-mutant nuts. Let's cuddle. Who says there's no romance in American comics?
The whole "nerve ending" thing could have just been boasting (or stupidity) on his part and he was really invincible, so it's possible he could have survived the fall... Not very likely though.
Another thing bugging me about his powers. Outwardly they don't show at all, so how would his town even know he was a mutant?
There was much speculation who writer X was
when the book first started, but it showed to be pretty smart
that he didn't reveal his secret.
According to Prime
Eternal: The popular theory
was Devin Grayson.
Do THESE look like the actions
of a man who can't feel anything? HMM?
