History: (Incredible Hulk II#188(fb)-BTS) - Droog was genetically engineered from a dog to be the Gremlin's companion. Droog became the Gremlin's only friend. Droog also served to enforce the Gremlin's will among the soviet troops, "reprimanding" any who got out of line.
(Incredible Hulk II#188) - As the Hulk, General Ross, and Quartermain attempted to escape from Bitterfrost, the Gremlin unleashed Droog on them. The Hulk sent the others to escape, while he engaged Droog. The two fought savagely, each holding his own, all the while Droog unleashed a torrent of rhyming couplets and more complex rhymes on the Hulk. After the other prisoners had escaped, SHIELD unleashed a devastating blast of energy at Bitterfrost, which incinerated the entire complex. There were no signs of Droog, the Hulk, or any others in the mammoth crater left by the blast.
(Daughters of the Dragon#4) - Droog found a new master in Megacephalo, and the two of them watched television together. Droog complained to his master about the amount of clutter around their home.
Comments: Created by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe.
The Hulk was knocked below the surface of the
Earth by the force of the explosion, and emerged shortly
thereafter.
There's no reason Droog couldn't have had a similar fate,
Maybe he will return, at a later date.
He is waiting, planning to avenge himself on SHIELD, who
destroyed his hut,
or more likely, perhaps monkeys will fly out of my butt.
If I were much more clever, I'd have written this whole profile in rhyme. If that were the case, I'd probably also have used the word cleverer in the last sentence.
I'm no paleontologist/dinosaurologist/whateverologist, but Droog looks like a Triceratops to me. I now stand ready for the correction.
Droog has a profile in the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update#1.
