Base of Operations: Manhattan, New York
First Appearance: Tomb of Dracula II#2 (December, 1979)
History: The Enclave is a cult worshipping the demon Asmodeus. Its origins are unknown
(Tomb of Dracula II#2 (fb)) - During the days of World War II, Damien recruited two Hungarian Jews who were fleeing the Gestapo. Using his own blood to paint an inverted cross on their heads, he cast a spell which made them invisible to the Nazis searching for them. In gratitude, the two refugees joined his cult, the Enclave, and eventually they began devout cultists.
(Tomb of Dracula II#2 (fb)) - Damien led the Enclave in their first attempt to summon their demon, Asmodeus. However, the former refugee woman, now seven months pregnant, went into labor, interrupting the ceremony. She gave birth to twin children, Joshua and Angela, each with the Mark of Asmodeus (an inverted cross) on their breast.
(Tomb of Dracula II#2 (fb)) - While Angela stayed away from the Enclave, Joshua was only too eager to prove his loyalty. On mount Darkmün, Damien conducted an animal and human sacrifice, and then directed Joshua to plunge his hands into the blood they had gathered. The energies released changed Joshua into an incubus--the Dimensional Man--as he soon found out when he touched his fellow cultist, Druker, and drained his life.
BTS - Disgusted with his new existence, Joshua turned against the Enclave and left the group. In the space of two nights, he slew/absorbed five members of the cult.
(Tomb of Dracula II#2) - Damien organized another summoning
of Asmodeus. He sent Joshua's own parents to kill him, while he
and some other cultists abducted Angela, to serve as the Bride of
Asmodeus. Joshua survived the attempt and tried to save Angela,
but Damien proved capable of controlling Joshua's will. Angela (a
psychic) called at to Dracula across the city and he came to her
rescue. Dracula easily overpowered the rest of the Enclave, who
fled, leaving only Damien. Damien sent Joshua against Dracula,
and he defeated and nearly destroyed the Lord of the Vampires.
However, Angela's cries brought Joshua back to his senses, and he
turned instead on Asmodeus, sacrificing himself to drive the
demon back into the hellpit from which it had come.
Dracula rescued Angela...and Damien was nowhere to be seen.
COMMENTS: Created by Marv Wolfman and Steve Ditko (as if it could be anyone else!).
A lot of the magazine stories have very little
to tie them in to the modern era. While this story was published
after the conclusion of the first Tomb of Dracula series, the
fact that the Dimensional Man and his sister's parents were
around during the final days of World War II seems to more likely
tie them directly into the time of publication of the issue,
rather than within the modern era. So, I would lock this story
into the year 1979, personally. Again, this is just an opinion.
If this is all true, then the birth of Joshua would have taken
place @ 1959, the same time as the first attempt to summon
Asmodeus. This would also mean, that somewhere around 18 years
would have passed b/t their first meeting with Damien and the
first summoning attempt. Alternatively, the main story may have
actually taken place at a point earlier than 1979.
Not that anyone else read or remembers this story, but there are a few loose ends: 1) Who's to say Joshua was destroyed in the realm of Asmodeus? 2) Where's Asmodeus? 3) Where did Damien go? The last time he's seen is when he sends Joshua to fight Dracula; 4) Asmodeus was in the middle of his...transaction...with Angela when Dracula arrived. If someone cares, there's an unaccounted for demon child running around somewhere.

Damien Burnemissza
The leader of the Enclave. His magical
abilities extend back to at least World War II, when he saved and
recruited Joshua's parents in Hungary. He organized both
summonings of Asmodeus, as well as the ritual that empowered
Joshua and the offering of Angela as a bride to Asmodeus. While
Asmodeus assaulted Angela, Damien was able to take control of
Joshua and force him to fight off Dracula. However, he apparently
vanished soon after that. His fate remains unknown.
He is apparently blind, but able to see by supernatural means. He
can cast spells of invisibility, call on Asmodeus for power or
summon him to the Earthly plane, and can mentally control others.
While he is the only one to demonstrate superhuman abilities
beyond Joshua, the rest of the Enclave's scarred/mutated
appearances are apparently a result of exposure to his and/or
Asmodeus' magics.

Druig and Satus were two of the cloaked cultists who showed up at Angela's apartment, alongside Damien, and forced her to accompany them to the summoning
--Tomb of Dracula II#2
Kurt Druker and Sondra participated in the same blood sacrifice ritual which empowered Joshua, but were not changed by it. Well, Druker was changed...when Joshua turned and absorbed his life energy, leaving him a bodiless dead man. Sondra did not appear to suffer the same fate.
