Midnight Sons
(Blade, John Blaze, Frank Drake, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider/Dan Ketch/Noble Kale, Hannibal King, Morbius, Vengeance),
Blood (Caretaker, Embyrre, Foundry, Raydar, Seer, Truthsayer)

Base of Operations: Unrevealed. Formerly used Caretaker's base, below Cypress Hills Cemetary; an abandoned Tibetan monastery; an unnamed dimension

First Appearance: (Shadows only) Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance#17 (December, 1993); (pictured) Nightstalkers#15 (January, 1994)

History: The Fallen were originally members of the Blood, who fought against the demon Zarathos in the distant past, before the rise of Atlantis. The members who became the Fallen turned their backs on their previous mission and chose to worship Zarathos instead. Little has been revealed of their past activities. They were apparently banished from Earth at some point.

(Midnight Sons Unlimited#4 (fb) - BTS) - Centuries, or perhaps millennia ago, the Fallen assaulted a South American tribe (Incan? Aztec? Mayan?).

(Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance#17) - During the events known as the Siege of Darkness, the Midnight Sons succeeded in banishing the demoness Lilith and her Lilin, as well as humbling Zarathos. The Fallen suddenly opened a portal and brought Zarathos to an unknown location, where he could recover.

(Nightstalkers#15) - Zarathos and the Fallen abducted Caretaker and took over his base as their own. The Nightstalkers (Blade, Frank Drake, and Hannibal King) followed them and tried to recover Caretaker, but were fought off.

(Ghost Rider III#45) - Zarathos directed the Fallen to find the rest of the Blood, convert those they could to their side, and slay the rest. After an encounter with Ranter and the Midnight Sons, Patriarch, the former leader of the Blood, revealed that he had long ago made his decision. He pledged his loyalty to Zarathos.

(Marvel Comics Presents I#145) - Zarathos and the Fallen continued to torture Caretaker in order to gain information or his allegiance.

(Darkhold#16) - Metarchus located the Blood Truthsayer, but was fought off by the Darkhold Redeemers.

(Morbius#17) - Embyrre and Rubach located Raydar. Rubach was seemingly slain in an encounter with Morbius and Hannibal King. Embyrre quit the Fallen, and returned to her original loyalties in the Blood.

(Marvel Comics Presents I#146) - Metarchus attempted to slay Embyrre and Raydar, but was fought off by Ghost Rider and the Midnight Sons.

(Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme#61) - Patriarch and the Fallen explained to Zarathos their connection to Salomé.

(Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance#18) - The Fallen watched as Zarathos seemingly destroyed Ghost Rider in single combat.

(Midnight Sons Unlimited#4) - Atrocity, Metarchus, and Patriarch fought alongside Zarathos in final battle with the Blood. They were all apparently killed by Blade using Justicar, the sword of Foundry.

Top to Bottom:
Ranter, Metarchus, Embyrre, Atrocity, Rubach

COMMENTS: Created by Howard Mackie. see also individual entries.

Entries to each member of the Blood and the Fallen will be done in the next several weeks.

The members of the Fallen were identified in a piecemeal fashion of the succeeding issues of the Siege of Darkness.

Salomé was not directly involved with the rest of the Fallen during the Siege of Darkness. Patriarch claimed that it was she who made their return to Earth possible. However, later she accrued power from worshippers that Zarathos felt was rightfully hers. Patriarch explained this as, "She was ever the selfish one."

More work from Mackie's World of Mystery. Minimal explanation, minimal depth. Big build-up, little to no finish.

They are the Fallen...And they Can't Get Up!
