THE FOE
Real Name: Unknown
Identity/Class: Human
Occupation: Referee
Group Membership: None
Affiliations: None
Enemies: Aldo Moomjay, Spider-Man
Known Relatives: None known
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Presumably New York
First Appearance: In a Hostess ad
appearing in March/April 1977 editions of Marvel comic books
(example: Ms. Marvel#3 & Marvel Two-in One#26)
Powers/Abilities: The Foe was a professional referee by trade and knew the rules, regulations, and procedures for professional boxing matches, that is, except for the minor rule that a count cannot begin while a fighter is being punched (Whoops!).
History: The Foe tossed a knife into a wall of Aldo Moomjays (then current boxing champion) dressing room. Skewered onto the blade of the knife was a threatening note that stated that he would get the champ before the count of two. Unknown to the Foe, Peter Parker, Spider-Mans alter ego, was present, and he decided to observe the fight in his superheroic identity. Spidey noted that something was wrong when the ref began the count while the champ was rolling with a blow, so he did what any sane person wearing a full-face mask and skin-tight skivvies would dohe webbed up the champ in the middle of the fight (with green webs, no less!) and threw a tasty Hostessâ Cup Cake in the refs mouth to stop the count.

Bad ref or the Foe? What happened to him
afterwards? Who cares? It was just a silly advertisement!!!
Yeah, I never particularly cared for this one--Snood.
For those who don't know, Spider-Man's webbing is typically gray in color, not green. The hue of the webbing in this ad was more than likely a coloring error, but why not be creative and come up with an explanation instead? Maybe it was Saint Patrick's Day and Spidey made webs to match the occasion.
Of all the Hostess villains, only Icemaster has shown up in an Earth-616 title. He could have crossed over to Earth-616 from "Earth-Hostess, " but I say leave them on Earth-616 until proven otherwise. Nonetheless, until they do show up in regular continuity, they remain outside regular canon. Surely someone will write a story teaming them all together--Snood.
This is not true anymore as some Hostess ad villains were mentioned in the Fantastic Four Encyclopedia as natives of Earth-616. And lets not forget about Printout Man in the New Avengers Most Wanted Files.
