History: (Tales of Suspense I#80 (fb) - BTS) - The Keeper was assigned the duty of guarding AIM's Cosmic Cube. He attended a meeting called by the Grand Imperator of THEM, and met the Red Skull, then an ally of A.I.M. The Red Skull shook hands with the Keeper, and in so doing placed a neuro brain-tap device upon the palm of his hand, placing him under his control. The Red Skull commanded the Keeper to bring him the Cosmic Cube.
(Tales of Suspense I#80)- Under the Red Skull's control, the Keeper stole an A.I.M. craft and set towards the Red Skull's Island (possibly the Isle of the Exiles?). A.I.M. sent two crafts to stop him, but the Keeper shot one down. The second was destroyed by the Red Skull, who took control of the Keeper's craft to open fire.
Captain America learned of the Keeper from the pilot of the first craft before he died, and boarded the Keeper's jet. The Keeper opened fire upon him, and managed to momentarily blind him when he fired the gun too close to his face. Captain America forced the Keeper to eject from the craft, holding on to his chair as they ejected. The Keeper attempted to knock Captain America off of the chair, but he held on fast.
Landing in the surf of the Red Skull's island, the Keeper evaded Captain America's shield, and took cover while the Red Skull engaged Captain America in battle. After the Red Skull had knocked Captain America out with stun gas, the Keeper presented him with the Cosmic Cube. Having no further use for the Keeper, the Red Skull teleported him to Limbo.
Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Don Heck.
It's anyone's guess as to which "Limbo" the Keeper wound up in.
I once thought it would be interesting to have the Keeper return, transformed by whatever dimension he was exiled to into some of kind of bizarre creature. Then I discover the Angler and realized it had already been done.
