The Legion of Night is a band dedicated to opposing occult threats.
(Legion of Night#1-2) - When the cult known as the Beyond Reason Spiritual Fellowship summoned the demon Aan Taanu to earth, it took over the form of the dragon Fin Fang Foom and began a rampage in New York City. Cult High Priestess Hildreth sought to mate with the demon to allow it to father a race of demonic beings who could then overrun the earth.
The entity known as Omen, who had formerly been a slave of Aan Taanu, manifested himself on earth by merging with Charles Blackwater. Blackwater was a lawyer who had been slain by the Cult. Omen resurrected him, and using the apartment of Ariann and Caspar Wright as his base, he summoned several others with occult experience to his side. He organized this group into the Legion of Night.
Omen brought the Legion to the Astral Realm of Aan Taanu, while Caspar Wright remained on earth to watch over the form of Blackwater. Omen, Liuchow, Reynolds, and Kale battled the demon's hordes, while AriannWright and Gold located the demon's stronghold. Gold restrained Aan Taanu while Ariann tore the demon fetus from Hildreth's womb, slaying both mother and unborn child in the process. Aan Taanu then freed himself and attacked Ariann, but Omen arrived in time to save Ariann, and he plunged his sword into the demon's skull, either banishing it. Fin Fang Foom fled into the New York Harbor, and the cult presumably dissolved.
The Legion members elected to stay together to defend Earth against further mystic attacks.
(Midnight Sons Unlimited#9/2) - Blackwater/Omen, and Ariann and Caspar Wright were later observed in conflict against a demon sent by Aan Taanu. This demon had possessed Morton Klasser, an ex-convict and manipulated him to locate Leena Wolfe, a private investigator hired by Klasser's ex-wife to document his affairs and abuses. Upon locating Wolfe, the demon forced Klasser to instead attack Allison Lamb, a former girlfriend of Blackwater who had hired Wolfe to investigate Blackwater's behavior changes. Omen, however, had learned of this and temporarily entered the form of Wolfe. When Klasser arrived to attack the women, Omen emerged and forcibly removed and slew the demon.
Omen informed Wolfe that she would be called upon in the future to assist the Legion in order to show her appreciation for saving her life.

Thanks to Loki for providing the main image from the Gamer's Guide to the Marvel Universe 1992 Character Update.
The group got an entry in OHotMU Horror 2005.
Marlene McKenna would be a
good addition, as would Domini, and perhaps Katinka, Judiah Golem, Angelica Neal, Lissa Russell, Jason Thornehill, and Joe Trinity (he's more sci-fi than magic, but so is Chan Liuchow).
Any of the survivors of the horror stories...
Too bad we may never see this group again!
