First Appearance: (cloaked) Avengers I#371 (February, 1994); Powers/Abilities: Khult has various powers relating to his manipulation of magical powers. He has demonstrated the abilities to raise the dead to life, generate blasts of mystical energy, and rearrange matter. He was also able to transform Blackwulf's Shadowlance from a three-dimensional weapon into a fourth-dimensional one. Khult has also managed to survive for thousands of years, either because of his Deviant heritage, or due to his magical powers. Possibly his magic is responsible for the extended lifespans of Tantalus and his children as well.
History: (Blackwulf#9 (fb)) - Khult dwelt on the planet Tebbel with his daughter Nirvana, who had been made genetically stable thanks to a controlled breeding program. The two served as astronomers until their planet was invaded by Tantalus. Khult attempted to sacrifice his life to spare Nirvana, but Tantalus insisted on slaying Nirvana as well. However, Nirvana proved immune to Tantalus' Black Legacy, and he wound up making her his consort so that she could bear him children. When Nirvana killed herself on the eve of Tantalus' journey to earth, he surrounded her in a field of his Black Legacy then departed for earth with Khult.
But unknown to Tantalus, Khult returned to Armechadon on several occasions and became the planet's new ruler. He also used his magic to resurrect Nirvana, but she was in a state
similar to that of the walking dead. Simultaneously, Khult continued to serve as Tantalus' most trusted advisor, and was the only one who could safely control Tantalus' son Id.
(Thunderstrike#7) - Khult met with Tantalus concerning the recent capture of their agent Pandara by the police. Tantalus informed Khult that he had sent an agent to help Pandara escape, but that if the plot failed, he would make no further effort to assist her.
(Blackwulf#1)- Khult met with Tantalus following Tantalus' murder of his son Pelops. Tantalus informed Khult that that evening they would be eating "Blackened Wolf."
(Blackwulf#2)- Tantalus met with Khult in their laboratory, which he found to be in ruins thanks to a rampage by Id. He also checked with Khult regarding the progress of their transponder, unaware that Khult already had a working model.
(Avengers I#371)- Under the guise of "Lord K", Khult accompanied Tantalus to Deviant Lemuria, where they observed the Avengers and Delta Force's battle against Ghaur.
(Blackwulf#8)- When Tantalus returned to Armechadon, he found Khult to be the planet's ruler, and the two engaged in battle.
(Blackwulf#9)- Khult revealed his working transponder to Tantalus, but revealed that he would only be able to journey to one place. Before Tantalus could make a decision, they were interrupted by Dr. Caitlin Maddox, and Khult returned to earth. Khult found Lyonesse to be a place of carnage, and at first believed that Id had rampaged yet again, until he was confronted by Sparrow. At that time, Blackwulf was in battle with the Celestials' Godstalker, who had broken Blackwulf's Shadowlance in two. Khult revealed the history of Tantalus and his family to Sparrow, and repaired the Shadowlance, making it fourth-dimensional so that it could strike down the Godstalker. He also told Sparrow that to defeat Tantalus, Blackwulf would have to channel his power into something positive instead of negative.
(Blackwulf#10)- After Tantalus was slain by Blackwulf, who absorbed his father's Black Legacy into himself, Khult revealed that Tantalus was not dead-- that his ego would eventually re-manifest itself. Khult then collected the Peacekeepers and with a spell, returned them to Lyonesse so that he could assume rulership of the kingdom.
(Dark Reign Files) - Quasimodo researched Khult for Norman Osborn.
