Powers/Abilities: Dr. Maddox is immune to the effects of Tantalus' Black Legacy due to her ingestion of a chemical derived from the Prime Skrull's adrenaline. She has occasionally worn protective armor and wielded a gun in combat.
History: (Blackwulf#1)- Dr. Maddox was a brilliant genetic researcher, making strides in the study of evolution. One day as she waited for a train in New York's subway, she was confronted by a street gang who threatened her. She was "saved" by the arrival of the Peacekeepers, who had been sent by Tantalus to bring her to Lyonesse, in the hopes that her research may lead to the means to stablize the Deviant genetic code. She was saved from the Peacekeepers by Mammoth, Sparrow and Blackwulf, members of the Underground Legion. She passed out from the experience and when she awoke, she was in the home of Mammoth, which served as the Underground Legion's base.
Mammoth introduced her to his teammate, Touchstone who cryptically remarked "I like you better in the red dress." She also met the dashing Toxin, and the catty Wildwind. Blackwulf then met with Maddox, and explained the history of his battle with Tantalus to her.
(Blackwulf#2)- As the Underground Legion wondered where Tantalus would strike next, Dr. Maddox informed them of how in 1947, two Skrulls had crashed on earth-- one of them Deviant, the other not. They were being studied at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where Dr. Maddox had herself worked on them, and suggested that Tantalus would be interested in studying the Skrulls because she had herself isolated the cause of mutation from her studies. Sure enough, the Underground found the Peacekeepers there, and alongside their new member Lucian, taking his brother's place as Blackwulf, fought them. Dr. Maddox came to warn them that soldiers were arriving, and they attempted to flee in a stealth fighter, but the villain Scorch blew them out of the sky.
(Blackwulf#3)- Dr. Maddox was saved from the worst of the explosion by Toxin, who transformed the air around them into halon gas. However, she and the rest of the Underground were forced to surrender to the military. Placed in a cell with the Prime Skrull by Scorch, Maddox was shocked to discover that it was still alive.
(Blackwulf#4)- Scorch attempted to seduce Maddox, but she brushed him off and beat him unconscious with his own helmet. She injected some of the Skrull adrenaline Scorch had been working with into the Prime Skrull, which further revived him. The two of them then set free the rest of the Underground Legion, and escaped the base.
(Blackwulf#5)- Maddox helped the Underground return the Prime Skrull to the mansion, and place Wildwind's body in the care of Dr. Broadhurst.
(Blackwulf#6)- Dr. Maddox took care of the Prime Skrull, caring for him as though he were a child as she nursed him back to health.
(Blackwulf#7 (fb))- After learning that Tantalus had used a Stargate to return home, the Underground determined to follow them, but Maddox was left out by Mammoth.
(Blackwulf#7)- Unknown to the Underground, Dr. Maddox followed after them aboard the space shuttle they commandeered, only making her presence known until they were already well into space. In space, they met up with the Kree Starforce, who joined forces with them to set after Tantalus at Armechadon.
(Blackwulf#8)- Dr. Maddox joined with the Underground Legion, Starforce, and the Underground of Armechadon against Tantalus and his Peacekeepers. She secretly tracked Tantalus as he set off for his palace, and witnessed his reunion with his wife Nirvana, and with Khult.
(Blackwulf#9)- Dr. Maddox aided Khult against Tantalus, and Tantalus attempted to kill her with his Black Legacy, but she was immune to his touch because she taken the Prime Skrull's adrenaline. Tantalus briefly mistook Maddox for Nirvana. Toxin heroically attempted to aid Maddox, but Tantalus destroyed his armor, reverting him to his normal state.
(Blackwulf#10)- Taking advantage of her resemblance to the now-dead Nirvana, Dr. Maddox was made to recall Touchstone's first words to her, and donned Nirvana's red dress. The ploy worked to distract Tantalus long enough for Blackwulf to kill him.

It isn't clear just when Maddox took the Skrull adrenaline. It didn't occur on-panel.
