History: (Dr. Strange III#9 fb) - On a recent visit to
Paris (possibly in Doctor Strange II#40), Strange paid his respects - and vice-versa - to noted fantasy artist
Moebius in front of a bistro named after the artist's western hero, Lt. Blueberry.
(Unpublished Story) - Nightmare used the mind of Moebius as a gateway to invade reality. Strange had to use his
own powers to enter the Mind of Moebius as well (as he once entered the mind of the Ancient One) and, there, teamed
up with the artist's creations, Arzach, Major Grubert of the Airtight Garage, and Lt. Blueberry, to defeat Nightmare's
minions.
Comments: Created, well, adapted by Jean-Marc Lofficier, Roy
Thomas (writers) and Jackson Guice (artist).
In 1989, Thomas and Lofficier came up with the idea of a one-shot Doctor Strange special which
would be a crossover between Doctor Strange and then successful
line of Moebius graphic novels then published by Marvel/Epic.
A free license/permission was successfully negotiated between Marvel and Moebius' company, and Thomas plotted a
story, which was then entrusted to artist Marshall Rogers who penciled half-a-dozen pages. A reference to Strange's
past relationship with Moebius was inserted by Thomas in Doctor Strange III#9. Then Rogers abruptly left to pursue
another assignment and the project was sadly abandoned.
"Profile by" Jean-Marc Lofficier (yes, that Jean-Marc Lofficier!--Snood).
