Powers/Abilities: Mokadi can possibly teleport, and may possess certain psychic or magical powers, though little was seen in his appearance. He is quick and agile, and adept at traveling through the jungle, limb by limb.
History: Unknown. Mokadi appears to be some sort of jungle Imp or spirit.
(Jungle
Action#14) - Just after T'Challa had overcome Sombre, one of Killmonger's
agents, Mokadi appeared to him, questioning his motives, and wondering he would
take his insanity from Serpent Valley. The Panther initially mistook him for
another agent of Killmonger and tried to capture him, but Mokadi stayed out of
his reach, and eventually his lack of aggression ended the one-sided struggle.
Answering T'Challa's questions with more questions (Who or What are You? What do
you want me to be?; Do you come from here? Do you know why this place is called
Serpent Valley? Why do you think it has such a name?; Are there serpents here?
Who are the serpents? And how many breeds of serpents are there?), Mokadi led
T'Challa to the site where Killmonger was capturing the dinosaurs of Serpent
Valley to use in his planned assault on Wakanda.
Upon seeing T'Challa, Killmonger released a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which then attacked the Panther. Mokadi, almost out of site, assisted the Panther in using a bent tree as a catapult to smash the T. Rex in the head with a boulder, defeating it. After the struggle, he was nowhere to be seen.

I don't know if Mokadi has any real world
basis. I did a Google search on the name, and found a few people from Africa
with that name, but didn't find any mythological characters.
According to to the
Wakandan Embassy, his
name is the the Bomtaba word for "Spirit."
The dinosaurs of Serpent Valley have been revealed to have been created by Deviant manipulation.
