Powers/Abilities: Indries has been trained to be alluring and the perfect object of desire. Her body and face have been surgically altered to make her beautiful and flawless. She also uses allure-enhancing pheromones to make her irresistible. Very few men are able to resist her charms. Most can be convinced to do virtually anything she wishes.

History: Indries was raised by the Sisterhood of Ishtar, and has been groomed to be attractive and desirable to men. She was trained by psychologists and others, in addition to having plastic surgery to enhance her appearance.

(Iron Man I#163-167)- When first encountered, Indries had been hired by Obadiah Stane to help in his plot to defeat Anthony Stark and take over Stark International. She was chosen for her abilities, in order to seduce and emotionally crush Stark. Stane used a chess motif, and Indries represented the Queen in his Chessmen.

Indries first encountered Stark as Iron Man, when she posed as an innocent victim, injured by a collapsed monorail caused by another of Stane's agents, Tattoo. Stark was immediately smitten with her, visited her sans armor as she recovered in the hospital, and made a dinner date for when she had recovered. He found he couldn't get her out of his mind, and he sent several grosses of roses, some truffles, and a few mink coats to her while she was still hospitalized. After she recovered, she seduced him completely and forced herself into his life. She stowed away on a mission to Scotland, where she allowed herself to be captured by the Laird of Glen Trevail, and the Rook, another of Stane's Chessmen. Knowing Stark is an alcoholic, she also took every opportunity to drink in front of him, and to tempt him to do so, as well. After a series of minor defeats and Pyrrhic victories against Stane and his men, Stark's frustration level had reached an all time high. When he came to Indries for comfort, she cruelly rebuffed him, mocking his attempts to impress her and comparing him to a puppy panting after her. Crushed, Stark walked back to his office, where he found a bottle of liquor she had left for him, and began drinking. Indries calmly called Stane and reported her success.

(Iron Man I#170, 173)- Stark went on the biggest drinking binge of his life, which resulted in the loss of his fortune and company to Stane, as well as his friend Rhodey donning his armor, to become Iron Man. Following a recommendation by Stane, Rhodey sought out Indries, in the futile hope that she could "undo" whatever she did to make him start drinking. Stane claimed that Indries was being held prisoner by the Sisterhood of Ishtar, although she was there of her own volition. Rhodey forced his way through the traps in the Sisterhood's base, and "liberated" Indries. He flew her back to Manhattan, but when she revealed that she could not stop his drinking, Rhodey let her go.

Comments: Created by Dennis O'Neil and Luke McDonnell.

Definitely an interesting character. It's hard to believe she hasn't been used since.
