MUTATE 8765
Real Name: Unrevealed
Identity/Class: Human mutant
Occupation: Genoshan tracker mutate/slave
Affiliations: Boom Boom, Jubilee, Rictor
Enemies: Genegineer, Genoshan Magistrates
Known Relatives: Unnamed mother
Aliases: "Baldy"
Base of Operations: Hammer Bay, Genosha
First Appearance: New Mutants I#96 (December, 1990 )
Powers/Abilities: Mutate 8765 apparently had some degree of tracking ability. Whether this was only for tracking other mutants or for tracking anything is unknown. However, he had undergone a severe brainwashing process and his free will and mental faculties suffered greatly.
History: BTS- Mutate 8765 was tested positive for a mutant gene on his 13th birthday and brainwashed into becoming a mutate by the Genegineer. His mother tried to save him, but failed.
(New Mutants I#96)- Some Genoshan magistrates were searching
for the escaped Rictor and Boom Boom as well as their guide, Jubilee. They were
using a tracker mutate, Mutate 8765, who was inexperienced and fresh from
brainwashing. After the young mutants defeated the magistrates, Mutate 8765
begged the mutants not to hurt him, implying that the magistrates were abusive
to him in the past. Jubilee wanted to ditch the mutate, but Boom Boom wanted to
take it with them. Before a solution could be reached however, several more
magistrates were heard approaching, and the young mutants made a run for it
along with the mutate.
Later, in need of food, Jubilee ordered Mutate 8765 to find an empty apartment
for them, which he did. Later, he recalled (with great difficulty) his mother
trying to save him and asked if he could help the three young heroes find and
rescue their friend as much as his programming would permit him to.
Later still, as the mutants neared the Citadel where Wolfsbane was, Jubilee was very insistent on ditching the mutate, but Boom Boom and Rictor would hear none of it. However, when they reached the Citadel, the mutate ran off at the first sign of trouble. But when the magistrates found Mutate 8765, he lied to them and did not alert them of the three mutants hiding nearby, thereby allowing them to escape.
