Powers: Onslaught possesses superhuman strength , speed, and durability (all approximately in the enhanced human level). He is a master of hand to hand combat. He can survive in outer space unaided and appears to be able to fly or navigate in space (this may be through technological support)
History: Onslaught's history is unrevealed. He is a member of the Shiar Imperial Guard, indicating that he is likely either part of one of the Shiar Empire's member or slave races. It is uncertain if his abilities are natural or a result of mutation or technology. It is not certain if Onslaught is part of the Guard's Royal Elite, or one its satellite branches.
He was first observed during the Kree/Shiar war, also known as Operation: Galactic Storm. When the Protector of the Universe, Quasar, sought the stolen Kree artifact, the Nega-Bands, Onslaught was part of a group of Guardsmen dispatched to stop him. Onslaught appeared suddenly, catching Quasar off guard and knocking him through a space warp created by Voyager. Onslaught continued his attack on Quasar, nearly beating him into submission before he could form protective armor. Solar Wind knocked Quasar into an asteroid field, allowing the Guardsmen to escape back through the warp. leaving Quasar stranded.
Comments: Created by Mark Gruenwald and Greg Capullo.
Most, if not all of the original batch of the Imperial Guard are directly patterned after (homage or parody) DC's Legion of Super-Heroes, much like the Squadron Supreme is a take off on the Justice League. Onslaught, who appeared much later, is likely a derivative of the Karate Kid , as pointed out by Derek.
Onslaught as an illusion in Quasar#32 was Asian looking (Japanese) and had a Glowing Fist (an alien Iron-Fist?).
