History:
In the alternate timeline in which the Martian Masters overtook
the Earth, Sabre and his band of cavaliers maintained their
freedom by working for the Masters, rounding up the remaining
freemen to serve as slaves and/or meals for the Masters. Sabre
served under the direction of the slave-lord Abraxax and the
Martian High Overlord. While he disliked the Martians and the
fates of those he captured, he disliked seeing himself in the
same position himself even more so.
Sabre and his men encountered the legendary
Killraven and his band of Freemen, and succeeded in capturing a
few of them, but retreated from the initial confrontation when
the Freemen were attacked by a giant, mutated sea creature. When
the other Freemen arrived to rescue the others, Sabre found
himself enjoying a sword-fight with Killraven, having found a
match for his self. However, the battle was short-lived, as
Abraxas ambushed Killraven from behind and captured him. While a prisoner of the
Masters, Killraven exchanged words with Sabre that led him to
question his career, as well as his true value to the Martians.
Later, when Killraven escaped capture, Sabre turned against the
Masters, fighting alongside Killraven and his band. Sabre blasted
the High Overlord himself, preventing him from killing Killraven
with a blast from behind. The blast glanced off of the High
Overlord's chest and shattered a few of the support pillars in
the Lincoln Monument, causing it to come crashing down. Both the
High Overlord and Abraxas were crushed by the collapse, but Sabre
appeared to be near the periphery and may have escaped.
