History: During the events known as the Evolutionary War, the High Evolutionary (HE) built a bomb designed to cause worldwide instant evolution. HE used a number of operatives in the course of this mission -- the Sensors were one such group. They were all presumably humans (or Swamp Men from the Savage Land) genetically engineered or mutated by other means by HE.
One of the components of the bomb was true Vibranium, available only in the African nation Wakanda. The HE sent a group of his Gatherers to obtain some Vibranium from the sacred mound, but the group was defeated and captured by the Black Panther, his Panther Patrol, and the THROBS (Trans-Human ROBot). On one of the Gatherers, the Panther's men found an SOS message for Bill Foster. The Panther contacted the West Coast Avengers to reach Foster's former colleague, Hank Pym, but since he had left the group, the Avengers came to Wakanda without him. The HE sent the Sensors to obtain the Vibranium. The Avengers succeeded in overpowering the Sensors, but during the distraction of the battle, Stack (leader of the Gatherers) teleported in and stole a sample of Vibranium. The Sensors subsequent fate is unrevealed.
COMMENTS: Created by Steve Engelhart and Al Milgrom.
CLARIFICATIONS: The Sensors should not be confused with:
Intuition, sometimes referred to as the sixth sense, possessed limited telepathic abilities, enabling her to sense an enemy's attack before it occured. She was also highly trained in the martial arts, and possessed exceptional speed and reflexes. She proved able to go toe-to-toe with Mantis, until Mantis placed herself into a trance state, which allowed her to act subconsciously, and drop Intuition with a surprise blow.
Sight reflected every photon of light which reached his eyes as a laser beam. He threatened to overload the solar gem of the Vision with light energy until the Scarlet Witch projected Smell's opaque cloud over him, robbing him of any light to project -- without the light, he was helpless to a simple punch from the Vision.
Smell gave off a pungent odor at all times, which was physically irritating and nauseating to those around her, especially someone with enhanced senses like the Black Panther. In addition, she gave off an opaque cloud which obscured her exact location, making it difficult to attack her. The Scarlet Witch redirected her cloud to cover Sight, leaving her visible and vulnerable to an eyeblast from the Vision.
Sound projected sonic blasts of great noise intensity and/or destructive power from his vocal cords. The Black Panther defeated him by leading him to the Vibranium Mound, where his sonic energy was immediately absorbed and muted.
Taste was coated with and could project a corrosive acid from his finger tips. He was immune to all forms of acid. He could project the acid with sufficient aim to destroy most projectiles before they could reach him. Hawkeye defeated him by distracting him with an acid-arrow, intended to be harmless, and then dropped him with a boomerang-arrow from behind.
Touch possessed superhuman strength (@ Class 50?) and durability. She was a savage fighter, and Wonder Man initially held back against her due to chauvinism. She eventually pushed him beyond that, and he knocked her out.
