History:
(Uncanny X-Men I#232 - BTS) - Josey Thomas worked as a paramedic for the Denver Fire Department alongside her partner Harry Palmer.
(Uncanny X-Men I#232 - BTS) - After being infected with a Brood egg at a crash site in New Mexico, paramedic Harry Palmer infected Josey. The duo then began to seek out those emergency calls involving mutants, infecting them with Brood eggs to create a force of Brood capable of fighting the X-Men on an equal playing field. In the process Palmer and Thomas infected Blindside, Brickbat, Dive-Bomber, Lockup, Temptress, Tension, and Whiphand.
(Uncanny X-Men I#232) - Thomas and Palmer responded to an emergency call at the Dynasty Plaza office of Denver attorney Robert Delgado. Delgado, experiencing a heart attack triggered by his mutant ability to emit super-heated plasma balls from his mouth, was attended to by Palmer. While Thomas distracted the firemen at the scene, Palmer infected Delgado with a Brood egg, saving his life, but turning him into the Brood who would become known as Spitball.
(Uncanny X-Men I#233 - BTS) - Josey Thomas made her way to the Rocky Mountains where the Red Rocks amphitheater was about to host Reverend William Conover's Glory Day Crusade. Acting as a paramedic on site, Thomas had set her sights on the reverend's wife, Hannah Conover, hoping to establish a beachhead on Earth.
(Uncanny X-Men I#233) - While the X-Men battled Palmer and the Brood Mutants in Denver, Josey Thomas remained miles away, preparing her med-kit. Despite hearing reports of the ongoing battle, she chose not to respond, focusing on other tasks.
(Uncanny X-Men I#234) - Approaching Hannah Conover, wife of Reverend Conover, during the Glory Day Crusade, Thomas noticed Mrs. Conover's arthritis and cryptically offered assistance, suggesting she had something that could alleviate her ailment.
(X-Men/Brood: Day Of Wrath I#1 (fb)) - Thomas took Hannah to an ambulance to supposedly treat her arthritis but instead transformed into her Brood-form and implanted her with a Brood Queen's egg. Thomas, however, stayed and accompanied the Conover Crusade throughout the Southwest as Hannah used her newfound "Healing Power" to recruit more followers, creating her own Broodlings devoted to her.
(X-Men/Brood: Day Of Wrath I#1 (fb) - BTS) - When Hannah refused to do the bidding of the Brood Empress, the Empress ordered Hannah's demise, along with all associated with the rogue queen, including Thomas.
(X-Men/Brood: Day Of Wrath I#1 - BTS) - Thomas received a summons from the Brood Empress, who tasked her with aiding her elite troops in tracking down Hannah Conover. To accommodate their arrival, Thomas placed signal beacons along the Grand Canyon, ensuring their safe descent to the planet's surface.
(X-Men/Brood: Day Of Wrath I#1) - At the Grand Canyon, Thomas bore witness to the arrival of the Empress's elite forces, the Firstborn. In a matter of moments, four colossal Brood-like creatures appeared beside her, declaring their intent to eliminate the rogue queen. Thomas remarked that the Empress should have appointed her queen instead of Conover. As their ships dissolved, Thomas was taken aback to discover that the Firstborn would perish upon completing their task. Eager to assist them, Thomas led the Firstborn into town, where they swiftly located Conover and her Broodlings. After fulfilling their purpose, the Firstborn disclosed their intention to eradicate all who had come into contact with the queen. Realizing she had been betrayed and unwilling to accept her fate, Thomas assumed her Brood form to defend herself, only to be swiftly overwhelmed and slain. Her lifeless body was left abandoned in the alley as the Firstborn departed.
Comments: Created by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri.
In X-Men/Brood: Day Of Wrath I#1, Josey told the Firstborn that the Empress should've made her Queen instead of Hannah Conover, but as only Queen Brood can implant eggs in others, and Thomas infected Hannah, wouldn't that make her a Queen? Perhaps they were both Queens, and she was referring to who was the Queen in charge of the Brood Nest.
