TURBINE
Real Name: Joline Cargill
Identity/Class: Human technology user
Occupation: Student, Adventurer
Group Membership: She is an honorary member of the Right Riders.
Affiliations: Mr. McKinnon, Rangers (Phantom Rider (Hamilton Slade), Shooting Star, Texas Twister), Right Riders, Spider-Man
Enemies: Frightful Four (Dreadknight, Man-Bull, Trapster, Wizard)
Known Relatives: Dr. Cargill (father)
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Calgary
First Appearance: Spider-Man: Chaos in Calgary#4 (February, 1993)
Powers/Abilities: Joline is paralyzed from the waist down and uses a wheel chair. She is highly courageous and is of above average intelligence. As Turbine, she used a solar powered turbine cycle, which allows her to fly at high speeds, as well as to use its turbines to generate winds as an offensive attack. She also uses a van which keeps the cycle hidden and has a roof that can open to allow the cycle to fly out.
History:
(Spider-Man: Chaos in Calgary#4 (fb) - BTS) - Paralyzed under unknown
circumstances, Joline was given the use of the world's first solar powered
turbine cycle, presumably designed by her father. Using the cycle, she became
the young adventurer Turbine.
(Spider-Man: Chaos in Calgary#4) - While attending a rodeo celebrating Calgary's anniversary, Joline met photographer Peter Parker. Suddenly, the Frightful Four appeared, grabbing Dr. Cargill so that the Wizard could force him to use his scientific expertise to assist his endeavors. The Man-Bull's charge shattered Joline's wheelchair, and Parker carried her back to her van for protection, while the Rangers--performing at the rodeo--attempted to corral the Frightful Four. Parker soon joined the fray as Spider-Man, and Turbine followed after activating her cycle. She joined the Right Riders in distracting the villains, even using her turbine jets to knock the Dreadknight's Hellhorse off balance. She also rammed and shattered a paste cage formed by the Trapster, allowing the Rangers to escape, and they teamed up with Spider-Man to finish the Frightful Four off.
Afterwards, Spider-Man confronted Joline; realizing it was pointless to try to talk her out of being a superhero, he congratulated her and told her he'd look her up next time he was in Calgary.
Comments: Created by Scott Lobdell and Jim Craig.

Dr. Cargill
A Nobel Prize winning scientist, he was the father of Joline, and he apparently designed the Turbine cycle for her. He tacitly approved of her activities as Turbine. While attending the rodeo and Calgary, he was nearly abducted by the Frightful Four, but saved by the heroes in attendance there.

Right Riders
A young Canadian group of bicycle safety promoters. Members include Phil Danton, who was hit by a runaway car, but saved by his helmet and other equipment. Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch/Noble Kale) and Spider-Man joined forces to track down the hit and run driver who had struck him. The Riders performed at the Calgary rodeo, where they helped distract the Frightful Four so that the heroes could capture them. They made Turbine an honorary member.
