When the thieves were released on a technicality, Wayne felt the American Dream crash down around him but found he was too weak to lash out. He soon discovered a secret super-soldier serum in his father's lab and when he drank the only sample, he was transformed into the peak of human physical perfection. He subsequently spent years training to become the perfect fighting machine.

(Wizard: The Guide to Comics I#71 - "Amalgamania: The Top 10 Amalgams 'Wizard' Wants to See") - Donning the costumed mantle of a bat to instill fear into the hearts of criminals everywhere, Wayne vowed to fight for those who couldn't find for themselves as the Dark Knight.

Key:
Marvel characters
are listed in regular, bold black type.
DC characters are listed in bold blue type.
Amalgam characters are listed in bold purple type.

To clarify, Amalgam Comics didn't really exist beyond those seen in the few DC/Marvel cross-overs. The titles you don't recognize are amalgams of similar Marvel and DC comics--Snood.

In case it's not obvious, Dark Knight is an amalgamation of Marvel's Captain America (Steven Rogers) and DC's Batman (Bruce Wayne).

Dark Knight is the product of an article in Wizard: The Guide to Comics I#71 in which the staff of the magazine came up with their own ideas for amalgamated characters.

Dark Knight's eye and hair color were impossible to determine, as he was only ever seen with his mask on, preventing his hair and eyes from being seen.
