There have been countless covers with scenarios that don't actually occur within the pages of their comics. Whether they represent glimpses into alternate realities or merely artistic license, can be a subject of debate. The cover featuring this Deathlok, however, depicts a unique scene with dialogue and thus can be treated as proper narrative content.

Scottie Young, known for a series of variant covers depicting Marvel characters in his unique style, also wrote several full-length stories starring those characters: "A-Babies vs. X-Babies" (2012), "Giant-Size Little Marvel: AVX" (2015) and "Giant-Size Little Marvels: Infinity Comic" (2021). "Giant-Size Little Marvel: AVX" took place during the Secret Wars, on the Battleworld's Marville domain. The "All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe" Handbook identified the Marville domain as being formed from the reality-71912, which was evidently restored after the Secret Wars.

"A-Babies vs. X-Babies" and "Giant-Size Little Marvels: Infinity Comic" thus take place on Earth-71912 proper, respectively before and after it was part of the Battleworld. Given the humorous nature of this reality, variant covers by Scottie Young that depict specific comical scenarios can also assumed to be part of this reality.
