History:
(Young X-Men I#11 (fb) - BTS) - At an unrevealed point in time, Diamondheart and the X-Men came to live on the island nation of Xaviera which had been established by UN General Assembly resolution GSXM1. The nation became a beacon for mutantkind attracting most of their kind.
(Young X-Men I#11 (fb) - BTS) - However, after a few years mutants began to die off without propagating new ones. Vulnerable, Xaviera was invaded (see comments) and the UN unable (or unwilling) to intervene. The Earth's mutant population was dwindled down to only six mutants, four of them being the only active X-Men left; Wolverine, Graymalkin, Anole and Diamondheart who also took care of the catatonic human Ink.
(Young X-Men I#11) - While on a mission, Diamondheart and the X-Men were attacked by a group of giant mutant-hunting robots. Anole recognized the robots as Sentinex, tenth generation Sentinels after which Wolverine and Diamondheart shared the tech designed by Donald Pierce. The Sentinex were soon destroyed by the combined efforts of the X-Men.
(Young X-Men I#11) - Having defeated the menaces Diamondheart and the X-Men returned to Xaviera. Home, Diamondheart checked in on the catatonic Ink who was withering away in a wheelchair. The X-Men, however, were unaware Dust had infiltrated their home and killed Wolverine with her sand-like powers, leaving nothing but his lifeless adamantium skeleton.
(Young X-Men I#12 - BTS) - The same night Dust attacked the remaining X-Men; Diamondheart, Anole and Graymalkin, reducing their surroundings to rubble.
(Young X-Men I#12) - Diamondheart, Anole and Graymalkin stood defiantly before Dust as she declared her intent to eradicate all mutants. In a sinister transformation, Dust turned into a cloud of scorching sand and attacked the X-Men. Diamondheart could only watch as Dust inflicted severe burns on Anole's face after which the boy collapsed and she snapped Graymalkin's neck. When Diamondheart charged at Dust she used her sand-like abilities to replace the air with sand, causing Frost to suffocate. With Diamondheart teetering on the edge of defeat, Anole implored Dust to divulge her motives for wanting them dead. A moment of melancholy passed over Dust as she confessed her belief that mutants were a blight upon the Earth, viewing herself as the necessary cure. With grim determination, she proceeded to execute the X-Men, leaving a trail of devastation in her wake.
Comments: Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne;
adapted by Marc Guggenheim, Rafa Sandoval and Roger Bonet.
The convergence point of this alternate universe happened in Young X-Men#12 after Dust had been killed by Donald Pierce and was brought back to life by Ink, which not only rendered the boy catatonic but made Dust believe he'd killed and corrupted her soul. Dust came to believe mutantkind were a plague upon Earth, something to which she'd become the cure. It's been unrevealed, but very likely she was the force who invaded Xaviera.
The End of Days was a storyline which ran through Young X-Men#11-#12, the story mentioned there were only six mutants left alive on Earth but with Wolverine, Diamondheart, Anole, Graymalkin and Dust only make 5, perhaps Ink was a mutant in this reality which would make him number 6. The UN General Assembly resolution GSXM1 of course is a play on Giant-Size X-Men#1.
