(Iron Man in "Dr. Square & His Energy Cubes" - Part 1 - BTS) - In an effort to conquer the world, the terrorist Dr. Square sent one of his Energy Cubes onto the field of a local football game, puzzling both the players and the referee. As the Cube began to grow, emitting large bursts of fire and flashes of light, firemen were called in and the heroic Iron Man soon noticed another Energy Cube touching down in the heart of the city.

(Iron Man in "Dr. Square & His Energy Cubes" - Part 2) - When the new Cube began growing and eventually grew so large that it destroyed surrounding buildings, Iron Man picked up the light-emitting Energy Cube and hurled it into a nearby large body of water. Another Cube soon appeared with instructions that it be filled with a million dollars and Iron Man arrived back on the scene in time to see the ransom-demanding Energy Cube fly off towards Horror Mountain. Trailing the flying Cube, Iron Man found Dr. Square gloating about his plans to conquer the world and he punched Dr. Square in the face, defeating the criminal.

Comments: Created by unidentified creators.

Not a whole lot was given about Dr. Square, other than he terrorized a nearby city using Energy Cubes from his base within Horror Mountain. It was never revealed if Dr. Square had created the Energy Cubes but given all of the scientific-looking stuff inside Horror Mountain, my guess is Dr. Square DID create the Energy Cubes!

Dr. Square was a character who appeared in a storyline was spread over two slides that were displayed by the Kenner See-a-Show toy slide projector. The copyright on the slides states copyright 1967 Marvel Comics Group so he's owned by Marvel and not Kenner. So come on, writers! He and the other newly-created villains from the Kenner See-a-Show slides are just dying to be used again! There's absolutely nothing in the story that would rule it as not being Earth-616 canon!

Sadly, no credits whatsoever were given on the slides.

Dr. Square
should be distinguished from:

Energy Cubes

The Energy Cubes were flying items of varying size utilized by Dr. Square to terrorize others. Square sent one Energy Cube to a local football game, where it puzzled the players and referee until it began emitting flashes of light and bursts of fire, prompting the local fire department to be called in. Another Energy Cube touched down in the heart of a city where Iron Man was meeting with an acquaintance. Noticing the Energy Cube's arrival, Iron Man and his friend witnessed it grow large enough to destroy some surrounding buildings and Iron Man rushed out to take care of the Cube. As Iron Man picked up and hurled the Energy Cube into a nearby body of water, a third Energy Cube appeared with instructions that it be filled with a million dollars. When the ransom-requesting Cube flew off with the money, Iron Man returned to the scene in time to track it back to Horror Mountain, where he defeated Dr. Square.

The Energy Cubes were all able to fly, presumably through some sort of mechanical means, and they were each able to project flashes of light. The Energy Cube at the football game was also able to surround itself with a wall of flame, the Cube in the heart of the city was capable of growing to at least the size of skyscraper and the one requesting ransom money was designed with internal storage and a slot to accept monetary deposits.

Horror Mountain

Horror Mountain was a relatively normal-looking mountain on the outside but the inside contained a large scientific laboratory housing the criminal Dr. Square. When Dr. Square sent one of his Energy Cubes to obtain a million dollars in ransom money, Iron Man followed the flying Energy Cube back to Horror Mountain, where he defeated Dr. Square.
