History:

(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "To Me, My X-Men" - BTS) - Dust was one of the select few mutants to pose for a photograph for Daily Bugle photographer Peter Parker alongside Banshee, Maggott and Stacy X for the upcoming Hellfire Gala in Genosha. Dust and the others presented their garments for the biggest event of the season, Bugle reporter Eddie Brock wrote the article with the catching headline "Benetton's mutant fashion show" to highlight the multi-ethnic character of Genosha.

(X-Men '97: the Animated Series cartoon - "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III" - BTS) - In the months following the disappearance of the X-Men after saving the planet from Sentinel hybrid Bastion and the downfall of Magneto's Asteroid M, Forge compiled a list of mutants who could potentially carry on the torch, Dust was listed among them.

Comments: Created by Grant Morrison and Ethan van Sciver;
    adapted by Beau DeMayo and Marvel Studios (see Appearances list for full list of artists)

Dust's appearance amongst Forge's list of potential X-Men recruits alludes to the fact she survived the genocide of Genosha.

Although unrevealed it seems likely Dust's gala outfit was designed by famed mutant designer Jumbo Carnation who is typically responsible for designing all noteworthy garments for the Hellfire Gala. Carnation, however, has not yet made an appearance in X-Men '97. As Dust was chosen to promote the Hellfire Gala it would seem likely she was present when techno-organic Sentinel hybrid Bastion devastated the mutant nation of Genosha by attacking it with a monstrous Mastermold.

When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
