ENTARI
Classification: Semi-humanoid
extraterrestrial race;
active in the first half of the 20th century, at least; active in the first half of the 20th century (certainly 1931-1943; (and presumably some time period thereafter (possibly even extending into the modern era) likely sometime between 1901-1929 A.D.; likely long before that)
Location/Base of Operations: Unrevealed planet (Entar?), unrevealed star system, unrevealed galaxy
Known Members: Dreel, multiple unidentified commandos; dissected Entari;
Affiliations: Entari monsters;
Teraphin Mox apparently provided information to Dreel on Stafford's base

History:
(Original Sin Annual#1 (fb) - BTS) <"Decades" after the Men on the Wall's founding> - The Entari arrived and took apart the Men on the Wall -- who defended Earth from alien invasions -- in piecemeal fashion.
Dreel later claimed responsibility for slaying six of the Men on the Wall.
The sole survivor, Eben Stafford, vowed never to have to sit on his hands again, and he threw down his shield and took up a sword.
(Original Sin Annual#1 (fb) - BTS) - The Entari assaulted Boones Creek (presumably Tennessee), abducting
Woodrow's mother and his brother, Cortland. (Original Sin Annual#1 (fb)) <June 7, 1931> - As one of the Entari, atop a giant monster, strode through a wooded area, unphased by locals firing at it with rifles and arrows, the young Woodrow McCord Jr. dove out of a tree at the rider, armed with a small knife. Although McCord apparently knocked the Entari off the creature, the warrior soon gained the advantage over the young Woodrow, holding him down by the head and presumably threatening him with his own knife. Both combatants rolled to safety to avoid being stomped on by the monster, after which Woody struggled to his feet to flee the Entari until Eben Stafford fired an energy blast that apparently cut the Entari in half. As the Entari monster approached, Stafford advised McCord to stay down if he wished to remain alive, after which he apparently slew the monster. |
(Original Sin Annual#1 (fb) - BTS) - McCord became Stafford's apprentice. (Original Sin Annual#1 (fb) - BTS) - At least one of the Entari was captured and dissected by Stafford. (Original Sin Annual#1 (fb) - BTS) <June 7, 1936> - McCord's journal entry five years after joining with Stafford detailed the history of the Men on the Wall and their being wiped out (with the exception of Stafford) by the Entari. (Original Sin Annual#1 (fb)) - Around the same time, McCord witnessed one of the Entari in some stage of dissection (see comments). |
(Original Sin Annual#1 (fb) - BTS) - Apparently seeking a confrontation with Dreel, Stafford gained information to track down the Entari from the alien Teraphin Mox at some space station, apparently a den of hustlers, thieves, and killers. Mox, however, informed Dreel of this, and she sent Entari to confront Stafford at his base. (Original Sin Annual#1 (fb)) <October 3, 1943> - After McCord returned to the base following spending some time in the nearby town, he was ambushed by an Entari commando. Catching a reflection in a metal wall, Woody dodged an attack and then hurled his whiskey bottle into the alien's face -- agonizing it and causing it to exclaim, "My eyes! It burns like the sun!" -- and then smashed its skull with a giant wrench. . |
.
.
A second Entari then grabbed McCord by the neck and pinned
him against the wall; appreciating that Woody was not Stafford, it
nonetheless considered that he could die, but then Stafford appeared
and beat the alien to death. Stafford subsequently had Woody accompany him in his rocket ship to travel to some space station. . |
.
(Original Sin Annual#1 (fb)) - As McCord remained in
the shadows just outside the door, Stafford entered some tavern in the
space station and confronted Teraphin Mox, after which Dreel and a pair
of commandos confronted Stafford. Dreel mocked Stafford's seeming
surprise at a known liar lying to him and then noted her pleasure at
being able to end the only one of his "pitiful group" (the Men on the
Wall) to evade her. She further noted how it had been rumored that he
had died long ago and that only his ghost haunted the spaceways,
although she had never believed it.
. |
Noting that humans never failed to disappoint as she took a shot of liquor,
Dreel fired a beam from her blaster that she had casually laid on the table, blasting a hole in Stafford's
abdomen. Dreel continued that his "pathetic human need for a witness has seen him undone" and that his "lust for vengeance has led you to stumble right into my arms." Replying "I suppose I did," Stafford tilted his head as McCord emerged from the shadows, blasting and slaying the two Entari Commandos. As McCord dodged Dreel's blasts, Stafford lunged forward and impaled her with his blade.

It is uncertain when the Men on
the Wall formed, and it is similarly uncertain when the Entari wiped
out the members beyond Stafford, but the latter would have to be before
1931. See the discussion in the Men on the Wall profile, but they could
have formed anywhere between the early 1890s to 2011. Or, if "decades"
was just meant to mean "nearly two decades," they could have formed in
2013.
The monster in the Calcutta picture from 1913 (the top image in the Men on the Wall profile) looks like it might be one of the Entari monsters...but not a perfect match.
The positioning of the instruments in the image of the Entari in some phase of dissection really makes it look like Stafford cut off his genitalia.
I detailed the events/actions of the issues, but he's some clarification on a few points that were strongly implied but not outright stated (at least this was my understanding):
At the time of this profile, the Entari had only appeared in one issue, and I've pretty much included everything they said and did in this profile. The images were rough without clear detail, so I included multiple images to show what we could actually see.
I would think that it was likely
that McCord went on to take further vengeance on the Entari for taking
his mother and brother, and their actions against Earth in general, but
any such story has yet to be told.

CLARIFICATIONS:
The Entari should be distinguished from:
Dreel was apparently something of a leader amongst the Entari. She was something of a good shot, able to fire a blaster sitting sideways on a table to hit an opponent across a room. She also was able to put others off balance, firing such a shot after taking a shot of alcohol (or whatever).
