History:
(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Remember It" - BTS) - Cipher moved to Genosha at an unrevealed point in time. The African island nation had become a mutant paradise, allowing all mutants like Cipher to live in absolute freedom. Cipher soon befriended other mutants like Dazzler, Exodus and Multiple Man.
(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Remember It") - The streets of Hammer Bay were filled with festivities and laughter when the United Nations had formally admitted Genosha. Awaiting that night's prestigious Hellfire Gala to celebrate mutant culture, Cipher joined her friends Multiple Man, Exodus and Dazzler in a spectacular dance performance to entertain the Genoshan citizens. Meanwhile the X-Men (Magneto, Gambit and Rogue) arrived to speak with Genosha's Interim Council as they wanted Magneto as their new chancellor of Genosha something which Magneto accepted on the condition that Rogue would rule by his side.
That very night, Cipher attended the Hellfire Gala and was seen dancing with Boom-Boom. However, during the gala Genosha was targeted by the techno-organic Sentinel hybrid Bastion who send a monstrous Mastermold to destroy and kill all mutants. As chaos ensued, Mastermold and its Sentinels rendered the island nation to rubble, murdering many mutants like Cipher's friend Dazzler. In the end it was X-Man Gambit who sacrificed himself to successfully destroy Bastion's Mastermold.
(X-Men '97: the Animated Series cartoon - "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III" - BTS) - In the months following the disappearance of the X-Men after saving the planet from Sentinel hybrid Bastion and the downfall of Magneto's Asteroid M, Forge compiled a list of mutants who could potentially carry on the torch, Exodus was listed among them.
Comments: Created by Scott Lobdell and Joe Quesada;
adapted by Beau DeMayo and Marvel Studios. (see Appearances list for full list of artists)
I've included and additional image to show Exodus' costume underneat his cape.
The Sentinel used in the attack on Genosha is generally referred to as either the Tri-Sentinel or a Wild Sentinel, however, the end credits of "Remember It" used Mastermold for it's name.
Exodus is a member of the Acolytes on Earth-616, although he wears the Acolytes uniform he's not part of the team on Earth-92131. In this reality the Acolytes consist of Chrome, Fabian Cortez, Delgado, Frenzy, Unuscione, Amelia Voght and even Burner, who's part of the Mutant Resistance Force on Earth-616. Other Acolytes that have been seen that are not actually part of the team are Milan (Francisco Milan): shown as one of the scientist who helped Magneto build asteroid M. Senyaka (Suvik Senyaka) who lived in Skull Mesa and Gargouille (Lavinia LeBlanc) who also lived on Genosha like Exodus.
When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
