History:
(Death of Doctor Strange: Spider-Man#1 (fb) - BTS) - Gator Shaman was a delusional man, who planned to conquer New York City with an army of albino sewer gators. Doctor Strange fought him multiple times to prevent him from bringing the albino gators to the surface because he feared the species, who were one of the hidden wonders of the city, could go extinct if someone like a member of the Kravinoff family learned about their existence. Gator Shaman was unaware of Strange's true intentions and always believed their battles were about dominance over the city. To ensure the Gator Shaman and the albino gators stayed in the sewers Doctor Strange made several treaties with him.

(Death of Doctor Strange#1) - Doctor Strange opposed Gator Shaman and the albino sewer gators once again.

(Death of Doctor Strange: Spider-Man#1) - After Doctor Strange's death a message sent by the late Sorcerer Supreme summoned Spider-Man (Peter Parker) to the Sanctum Sanctorum, but due to serious injuries Parker was in hospital. In his place Black Cat and Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) went to the Sanctum Sanctorum and received a list of tasks, which included making sure the Gator Shaman didn't discard the treaties in Strange's absence.

Gator Shaman had felt Doctor Strange's death and decided to bring the albino sewer gators to the surface. Spider-Man (Reilly) and Black Cat fought the gators while Gator Shaman imagined the gators marching down Broadway because Doctor Strange couldn't tell him what to do anymore. Black Cat punched Gator Shaman in the face and told Spider-Man (Reilly) to clear things up for Gator Shaman and he learned Strange's real reason to keep the gators underground. After learning the truth Gator Shaman retreated with the albino gators to the safety of the sewers.

Comments: Created by Jed MacKay & Lee Garbett.

Sewer gators and specifically the albino variety are one of those impossible urban legends that float around in the United States. I didn't include a sub-profile on them because it wouldn't surprise me if other writers at Marvel had used them before and I am just unaware of it. They would probably need their own profile in that case because Gator Shaman had not shown up before the Death of Doctor Strange titles.

And that is indeed him on the right.

There are no good full body shots available for him at the moment, but notice the design in the second panel of the main image? Does look a bit like a V. When I first saw it I was reminded of the Wangal of Damballah. Maybe the amulet was the source of his control over the alligators and has a connection to a deity.
