History:
(ALF Holiday Special#2/5 (fb)) - Psych-Major was one of the original X-Melmen. He developed a close relationship over several years with Marble-Cake Girl as the team roster expanded.
(ALF Special#2/5 (fb)) - During a heated battle, their foe Juggernougat hurled Marble-Cake Girl into space toward the Potato Planets, but was transformed into the fiery Dark Kleenex and returned to planet Melmac and the X-Melmen. Her new power of super-absorbency proved too much and her self-sacrificial disintegration left Psych-Major a morose, emotional wreck.
(ALF#22/1 (fb)) - On Melmac, after being attacked by the nefarious Magmeato, orbit guardsman Gordon Shumway (later known as ALF) crash-landed at Professor Charles Xylophone's School for Gifted Melmutants, where he was introduced to the Uncanned X-Melmen (Brogue, Häagen-Dazzler, Michigan Wolverine, Molossus and long-serving Psych-Major). The X-Melmen took Shumway with them in their X-jet to confront Magmeato on his haircraft carrier ship. Magmeato destroyed the X-jet and the X-Melmen left Psych-Major behind in the water as he mumbled another self-pity monologue. Onboard the ship, Magmeato buried the others under a meat pile, but Shumway ate his way to secure their freedom while Psych-Major clambered up and blasted Magmeato prostrate on the deck. Magmeato surrendered and with the X-jet lost, Brogue carried the X-Melmen home.
(ALF Special#2/5 (fb)) - Michigan Wolverine was put on guard duty with the gloomy Psych-Major, who wanted to go over old footage of Dark Kleenex. Desperate not to be left alone with him, Michigan Wolverine called Shumway in as a substitute and hurriedly left. Psych-Major moaned he was used to being abandoned and watched festivities with Shumway on live television. But the fiery Dark Kleenex effect loomed, instantly recognized by Psych-Major and the duo rushed to the scene, where they found the other X-Melmen in the clutches of a giant Sentimel robot (designed by the government to hunt Melmutants). Dark Kleenex appeared and blasted the robot away, followed by a nasal blast from Psych-Major. The pair were too distracted in romantic reunion that the revived Sentimel blasted them down. Shumway saved the X-Melmen using a supersonic decibel attack that shattered the Sentimel and the Melmutants recovered. Shumway left with the X-Melmen immersed in infighting.
(ALF 44 (fb)) - Häagen-Dazzler left the X-Melmen and the team were introduced to their new member: Nightcaller. Prof. X dispatched the X-Melmen on a space mission, but their home planet later exploded in a separate incident, leaving the X-Melmen as some of the very few surviving Melmacians. On a nearby moon, they found Magmeato and Emma DeFrost plotting to take over Earth. Meanwhile, Shumway had made his way to Earth.
(ALF#44) - Psych-Major and Dark Kleenex went to Earth and gained Shumway's help; Psych-Major cried so much recalling the tragedy of losing planet Melmac that the room filled with his tear water and seeped to the floor below. Regaining composure, they changed Shumway into his secret superhero identity of Fantastic Fur and rejoined the X-Melmen near Magmeato's Melmacian moon base. Magmeato caused their spaceship to crash, then DeFrost almost made the X-Melmen drown. However, DeFrost's actions destabilized the moon and just before it was about to explode, Shumway fled in an escape pod while Nightcaller dialed an emergency group transportation to an alternate dimension. Later, back on Earth, Shumway played with his Melmutant action figures, confident the real Melmutants had survived.

Will Psych-Major meet his father, Coarsehair of the
Starhammys? Maybe meet the cosmic Garcons of the Galaxy (with
Startoad, Gameover and Drats)? Will the Smellions fight the Fur
Worriers (led by Night Snacker with Furstar (who shoots a deluge of
microwaved popcorn) and her ex-boyfriend Just Ice, along with undersea
sprite NoMoreEater (with fried chicken wings on her ankles) and Rich
Slider of the cosmic Novega Corps)? (Say, what happened to Icing Man
(Iceman)?) And what of other big storylines like Smell of X, Fur of X,
NecRoaster, X-cessive X-over Agenda, and Days of Fudgy Paste? Maybe the Melmutant Mastication (featuring the Meowders)? And what
of the Melmutant canteen nation Snackoa?
What happened to the hidden X-Melmen base in Entree-lia (crikey!)?
Melmadripoor
has been
mentioned; is that near Sing-a-law? Is it time for Marble Comics Presents: X-Melmen - The Furry Years? Hm, I better stop now, before
readers cry at my wet jokes and no one will talk to me... again.
And, of course, Psych-Major is a clear parody of the
troubled, concussive-force-blasting mutant leader Cyclops, whose love
for Blue Jean (Jean Grey) endures through her various resurrections.
I ASSume that a Melmutant is simply a mutant on the planet Melmac.
Further details on the Melmacian alien species (according to the ALF television show) can be found on a Melmac fansite. No problem!

CLARIFICATIONS
:
Psych-Major has no known connections to:
The giant armored Sentimel robots were designed by
the local Melmacian government to hunt down and exterminate all those
with chlor-X-sterol in their blood (which identified them as
Melmutants). One Sentimel was drawn to the "Eat Something Blue Day"
firework celebrations where several of the X-Melmen were watching and
grabbed them. It was momentarily stunned by the sudden fiery appearance
of Dark Kleenex. Psych Major and Gordon Shumway (later known as ALF)
arrived. The Sentimel was blasted back by Psych-Major, but recovered
and stunned the assembled X-Melmen with a gauntlet burst. Unnoticed by
the Sentimel, Shumway blared multiple music tracks at supersonic
decibels that ruptured the Sentimel's head and it was destroyed.
