History:
(Marvel Voices Infinity Comic I#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some unrevealed point in the past, a man who would later adopt the moniker PuriFire suffered a defeat at the hands of Iceman, leaving him deeply humiliated.
(Marvel Voices Infinity Comic I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Watching with disdain as the world embraced mutantkind and the establishment of Krakoa, a sovereign mutant nation, he believed the world irreversibly tainted by mutant ideology and pharmaceuticals. Driven by a desire to cleanse the world of mutants, he assumed the persona of PuriFire, wielding a blend of magic and technology. Intent on defeating the X-Men, PuriFire meticulously studied his adversaries.
(Marvel Voices Infinity Comic I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Targeting Iceman, the one who had previously bested him, PuriFire enhanced his arsenal with specialized spell grenades housing subterranean Lava Men.
(Marvel Voices Infinity Comic I#1 - BTS) - PuriFire located Iceman in Los Angeles following the X-Man's involvement in terraforming Mars. PuriFire unleashed the Lava Men on the city, hoping to draw out his nemesis.
(Marvel Voices Infinity Comic I#1) - His scheme unfolded successfully as Iceman swiftly reacted to the looming threat of the Lava Men. Seizing the moment of distraction, PuriFire struck Iceman with a power-dampening dart, significantly reducing the hero's abilities to a mere fraction. Asserting his identity as the Ultimate Inquisitor, PuriFire launched an assault on Iceman. Despite his diminished powers, Iceman proved formidable, swiftly overpowering PuriFire and neutralizing the effects of the power-dampening dart. Recognizing the odds were against him, PuriFire retreated, deploying additional spell grenades to unleash more Lava Men upon Iceman, creating an opportunity for his escape. As Iceman vanquished the summoned adversaries as anticipated, PuriFire had vanished without a trace.
Comments: Created by Luciano Vecchio.
When asked, Luciano Vecchio explained he intended for PuriFire to be a minor, yet already existing character from Iceman's past, but since it's not on page we can't consider it canon.
Identifying as the Ultimate Inquisitor, tasked with rooting out "mutant" heresy, hints at a plausible link to the Catholic faith, suggesting PuriFire might have aligned with William Stryker's Purifiers or a comparable faction. While his origins remain undisclosed, PuriFire could have conceivably served as one of Orchis' clandestine operatives, given their prominence as primary adversaries of the X-Men throughout the Krakoan era.
