History:
(Red Raven Comics I#1/5 (fb) - BTS) - Laraina, the rightful queen of
the Martian kingdom of Zoranthus, rebelled against the traitorous Golak,
who took over Zoranthus. Forced to escape Mars to a hidden city on the
icy planet of Saturn, Laraina began recruiting for a rebel army to take
back her kingdom, eventually recruiting the Plutonian Murfi and
keeping an eye on the career of Earthman Comet Pierce.
(Red Raven Comics I#1/5)
- When Comet Pierce
crashed his rocket on a lone asteroid and a serpentine creature
attacked the unconscious Pierce, Queen Laraina took matters into her
own hands, appearing on the scene and using her light ray gun to blast
the creature in half to save Pierce's life. Hours later, Comet Pierce
regained consciousness to find an unmasked Laraina and her ally Murfi
staring back at him, Murfi holding a gun on the pilot. Laraina began to
explain the situation, but Pierce interrupted, suggesting that there was
no need for the gun, as his hide wasn't worth blasting after he had
lost a rocket race against Avis Jort. Getting closer to Pierce's
bedside, Laraina remarked that a man such as Pierce could never lose.
She then kissed Pierce and admitted that the kiss was the product of a
yearning desire that had built up as she had followed Pierce's life.
Admitting that she had been hoping to someday meet Pierce in person, Laraina
departed, gifting Pierce her solar engine to utilize in his race
against Jort and to remember her by.
Weeks later, after winning the
race and defeating Jort, Comet Pierce began a search for Laraina, who
he had dubbed his "mystery woman" since Laraina had never introduced
herself in their previous encounter. Traveling across planets in his
search, Comet Pierce ultimately came upon Jupiter's moon, Callisto,
where he found Murfi being attacked by a Devil Tree. Pierce quickly
saved Murfi's life and the thankful Murfi led Pierce to Laraina's
hidden Saturnian base. Reuniting with Laraina, Comet Pierce revealed
that his search had led him to discover her identity as the rebel Queen
Laraina and how Laraina was seeking recruits for her army against the
traitorous Golak. Announcing that Laraina's fight was now his fight,
Pierce asked to stay with Laraina and Laraina looked over to ask Murfi,
who covered his eyes and proclaimed "As you wish, my Queen!"
