History:
(Defenders I#16) - The Defenders were trying to subdue Alpha the Ultimate Mutant. Doctor Strange's Bolt of Bedevilment failed to stop Magneto's pawn, so he tried to use the Ruby Rays of Raggadorr. They were less effective than the Bolts, because Alpha created an invisible barrier to protect himself. The ray bounced back, fading away.
(Incredible Hulk II#207) - The Hulk damaged the pillar of
a highway which started to collapse. Doctor Strange cast the Ruby Rays
of Ragrador (sic) to stop the crumbling. Given the importance of the task, he
had to maintain the concentration on the spell and could not help his
fellow Defenders anymore. Several minutes later, the Hulk and Valkyrie
repaired the damage.
Comments: Created by Len Wein and Sal Buscema.
In Defenders I#17 Doctor Strange had to repair a
girder, to prevent the falling of a building. In that almost identical
circumstance he cast the Ruby Rings of Raggadorr.
The Ruby Rays were colored with light-magenta, the Ruby Rings were
colored with magenta. In those same years, Doctor Strange's red cape was
colored "YR", also called "Ruby Red" by the colorists.
To date there have been many other spells attributed to
Raggadorr: The
Rings of Raggadorr, the Ribbons
of Raggadorr, the Rains
of Raggadorr.
The Ruby Rays were first mentioned in Raggadorr's profile: 05/31/2011
