unidentified extraterrestrial race
Classification: Humanoid extraterrestrial race
Location/Base of Operations: Unidentified planet, unidentified star system, unidentified galaxy
Known Members: None identified;
the representative selected to challenge the Champion of the Universe
Affiliations: Champion (Tryco Slatterus) and his trainers; Proja or another minion of the Champion resembling Proja
Enemies: Champion (Tryco Slatterus)
First Appearance: Marvel Two-In-One Annual#7 (October, 1982)
Powers/Abilities: Unrevealed.
The representative selected by Proja (or another minion) was very tall and sinewy, and he was presumably significantly strong and durable (perhaps lifting 50-100 tons or more).
However, this representative was also almost certainly one of the most powerful of his race.
Traits: Unrevealed.
At least the representative selected to challenge the Champion was willing to compete in a sporting boxing match.
All three members seen wore briefs.
Type: Bilaterally symmetric semi-humanoid bipeds
Eyes: Two (on head; eye color not seen)
Fingers: Unrevealed
(the only image that might show hands has the representative with his
hands turned sideways/perpendicular to the viewer. They looked like
there were (at least?) three fingers; an opposing thumb is likely)
Toes: Apparently three webbed digits
Skin color: Green, at least
Average Height: Unrevealed (we only see the Champion's arm
reaching up to punch this alien in the face; ballparking the angle and
considering that the Champion is 9' tall, 11-13' seems likely; the
challenger/representative may or may be signficantly taller than the
average member of his race)
Other Distinguishing Features: They may be hairless or just shave their heads.
History:
(Marvel
Two-In-One Annual#7 (fb) - BTS) - Scouring all of the known galaxies, Proja and possibly others of his race
constantly sought worthy adversaries who could challenge the fighting
prowess of their master, Tryco Slatterus, the Elder of the Universe known as the Champion.
(Marvel Two-In-One Annual#7 (fb)) - At some point, Proja or another of the Champion's minions, traveled to the world of this race and met with what was presumably its mightiest warrior, convincing him to participate in a challenge against the Champion.
Two other members of this race watched this meeting.
(Marvel
Two-In-One Annual#7 (fb)) - The representative met the Champion in a boxing match.
Despite his power and his height
and limb length advantage, the challenger was defeated, not lasting
beyond the second round.
Comments: Created by Tom DeFalco, Ron Wilson, and an uncertain inker (detailed in the Appearances list below).
We see a number of hemisphere
structures both above and below the representative, but the
significance of these structures is unrevealed. Perhaps they contained
energy or were precious mineral or they were some sort of mineral
growth or perhaps they were decorative.
Was the representative chosen to
challenge the Champion the leader (or a leader) of his race, and those
behind him his servants? Possibly, but there is nothing in the story to support or contradict that possibility.
But that's about as definitive as we can get.
When did the encounter with the Champion and his associates take place?
Unrevealed...the Champion has been active in his
competition/travel role for perhaps 5 billion years or more.
This encounter could have taken anywhere between that point and shortly before Marvel Two-In-One Annual#7.
Based just on the order of appearances, I would
think this to be one of the challengers from a mid-range time compared to the other two shown, but was it a billion
or more years ago? a million? a thousand? a hundred? a decade?
There is some evidence that the
Champion may have destroyed worlds that he felt unworthy of continued
existence.
Did he destroy this world/race? We may never know...
Dagnabbit, Marvel.com did not have
this one digitally when I did profiles on the other characters associated with the Champion, and so I had to scan my old
beat-up copy (it was one of my favorites when I was little, and I read
it over, and over, and over), dislodging the staples from the cover.
Not only that, but my heavily-read copy yields pretty grainy images.
We can replace these images once the issue is digitally available.
