History:
(Tales to Astonish I#17/1) - Seeking to conquer Earth and make it a colony of Mars, an invasion force of Martian warriors landed their spaceship in a Transylvanian village (...because they somehow knew Transylvania was a backward land, and the weak and ignorant humans there would be easy to defeat).

But the Martians' mission of conquest was interrupted when they encountered a living monster wax figure created by Ludwig Vandoom. When they saw the giant creature lumbering toward them, the Martians fired their gamma guns at it, but to no effect, for their weapons proved to be useless against the behemoth.

Vandoom's Monster immediately retaliated and vented its full wrath upon the Martian warriors, swatting them aside and destroying their weapons.

The beaten alien invaders gathered up their wounded and staggered back to their spaceship, then left to tell their fellow Martians that Earth could not be conquered.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Compared to the height of Vandoom's Monster, these extraterrestrials appeared to be about the same relative size as humans.

Like many other "Martians" claiming to be from Mars, these extraterrestrials may have just been using that planet for a base of operations, and may actually be from another world outside Earth's solar system.

Profile by Ron Fredricks.

CLARIFICATIONS:
These Martians have no known connections to:

Martians' spaceship

A space vessel that was capable of (at least) interplanetary travel (see comments), it carried a crew of at least eight Martian warriors, along with their weaponry, on a mission to conquer Earth.

The spaceship landed near a Transylvanian village, but when the invaders were quickly defeated by Vandoom's Monster, they concluded that Earth could not be conquered, so they returned to their own world.
