History:

(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Lifedeath - Part II" - BTS) - Vulcan was chosen to join the Shi'ar elite Imperial Guard. The Imperial Guard was tasked with enforcing Empress Lilandra's law across the Shi'ar Empire.

(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Lifedeath - Part II" - BTS) - The clash between the Shi'ar Empire and the militaristic Kree Empire known for its advanced technology and expansive reach, marked the onset of the Kree-Shi'ar War. Both empires, driven by expansionist ambitions, sought dominion over the galaxy. Empress Lilandra oversaw the Shi'ar Empire's efforts while Princess Deathbird, famed for her volatile temperament, led the Imperial Guard in opposition against the Kree Empire. Learning the Supreme Intelligence had fled, Deathbird set out to locate the embodiment of the collective consciousness and leadership of the Kree Empire.

(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Lifedeath - Part II") - Targeting Ronan the Accuser, Deathbird lead Vulcan and the Imperial Guard to invade his warship, determined to find the Supreme Intelligence's whereabouts. Vulcan and the other members of the Imperial Guard easily took down Ronan's army of Kree soldiers while Deathbird defeated the Accuser herself. Defeated, Deathbird interrogated Ronan as Vulcan used his powers to hold several Kree soldiers at gunpoint forcing them to watch. However, before Deathbird could act upon her threat a Badoon messenger appeared with news of the empire as Empress Lilandra announced she would marry the Terran known as Professor Charles Xavier. Deathbird and the Imperial Guard returned to Chandilar.

Vulcan, whose real name is Gabriel Summers, is the younger brother of Cyclops (Scott Summers) and Havok (Alex Summers). He was still in his mother's womb when she was abducted by the Shi'ar Emperor D'Ken, who later murdered her. Vulcan was extracted from his mother's body and placed in an incubation-accelerator, which aged him to adolescence and granted him significant powers. On Earth-616 he was sent to Earth where he was discovered by Moira MacTaggert and joined a new team of X-Men to rescue the original team from the living island Krakoa. Long thought dead, Vulcan would resurface to take his revenge on Charles Xavier after which he learned about his heritage and role the Shi'ar played in his mother's dead and his own tragic past. Driven by a desire for vengeance against the Shi'ar Empire and it's rules, Vulcan journeyed to Shi'ar space. In Shi'ar space, Vulcan waged war against the empire, ultimately overthrowing the existing leadership. He defeated the incumbent Emperor D'Ken, who was resurrected but still vulnerable, and took the throne for himself, proclaiming himself the new Emperor of the Shi'ar. It remains to be seen how much of his Earth-616 past will happen on Earth-92131.

When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
