WERE-FISH
Classification: Piscine
extraterrestrial race
Location/Base of Operations: An unspecified sector of space known as the "Broken Sea"
Known Members: None identified
Affiliations: None known
Enemies: 803, Cora and her children, Kio and his crew, Venom (Flash Thompson);
presumably anyone who enters their sector is considered prey by them
First Appearance:
Venom: Space Knight#1 (January, 2016)
Powers/Abilities: Piscine in appearance, the were-fish live in open space, thriving in the cold and vacuum.
They are carnivorous.
Possessing two rows of sharp teeth (one on the edge
of their jaws, and another pair around the circumference of their
nearly circular oropharyngeal (back of their throat) region), they can
fit an adult humanoid being entire within their mouth.
They can easily bite through limbs and presumably through torsos. as well.
The possess dorsal, pectoral,
pelvic, and tail fins. However, the means through which they navigate
in the vacuum of space is uncertain.
They also have antenna-like
projections extending caudally from the their superior palpebra (upper
eyelids). It is unrevealed whether these just provided tactile stimuli
or if perhaps they could communicate with other were-fish via these
structures.
They also had gill-like structures
between their head and pectoral fins. Perhaps they could use these to
breathe underwater when on a planet.
Members of Kio's crew expressed
concern with flying their starship into the Broken Sea, presumably
indicating that the were-fish could potentially break through the
ship's hull.
Traits: The were-fish are predators. When organic beings enter their sector of space, they attempt to feed on them.
Type: Bilaterally symmetric semi-piscine creatures
Eyes: Two (on head; blue color seen)
Fingers: None (fins)
Toes: None (fins)
Skin color: Green
Average height: Approximately 5' (perhaps 15' long)
History:
(Venom:
Space Knight#1) - After Venom boarded his ship intending to rescue the
captive Cora and her children, Kio -- aware of the intruder on
board -- ordered the ship into the broken sea.
When a crewman
respectfully warned that the were-fish would tear them apart, Kio
advised him that they could use the intruder's corpse to distract the
were-fish.
After stunning Venom with a sonic weapon, Kio advised Thompson that he would sell the Klyntar
for a pretty penny and that Thompson would make nice scraps for the
were-fish.
However, Thompson hit a button to open a door on the ship, which
pulled Venom, Kio, Cora and her children, and anyone else nearby into
space; having apparently planned for this eventuality, Venom had had Cora and her children don space suits.
With the symbiote having sufficiently recovered, Venom rescued
Cora and her children and brought them back aboard the ship, while one
of the were-fish confronted Kio.
Although Kio tried to use one of Cora's children as
a shield, Venom apparently rescued the child, after which the were-fish
fed on Kio.
As Venom gathered Cora's family returned to the
ship, one of Kio's booted feet was seen floating through space.
Comments: Created by Robbie Thompson and Ariel Olivetti.
So...were means "man." These
guys don't really strike me as men-fish...but maybe it means something
else in alien-ese.
There are a few other images of the were-fish in the sub-profile for Cora's children.
