History:
(Defenders I#48 - BTS) - Aquarius was one of the LMDs (Life Model Decoys) created in the Theater of Genetics by Scorpio (Jake Fury), who wanted him to serve as a member of his Zodiac, and to be his friend.

(Defenders I#49 - BTS) - When the Defenders invaded the Theater of Genetics, Scorpio was forced to activate the LMDs prematurely.

(Defenders I#50) - Because his sign of the Zodiac set him against Scorpio, Aquarius was reluctant to aid him, and instead sat back and watched the others fight while he drank a beer. He intended to leave once he was done with his beer, but was accidentally struck down by Aries, who couldn't control himself while charging.

(Defenders I#51 - BTS) - The Aquarius LMD was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody as they cleaned up the Theater of Genetics.

(West Coast Avengers II#26 (fb) - BTS) - Aquarius was freed from S.H.I.E.L.D. by Scorpio, who now existed in an LMD body.

(West Coast Avengers Annual#1) - Aquarius joined the other Zodiac LMDs under the leadership of Quicksilver in his attempt to gain revenge upon the Avengers. Aquarius joined Pisces, Capricorn and Sagittarius at the "Anthill," an abandoned base formerly used by the Sentinels. Aquarius fought the Black Panther and Black Widow, but was defeated when the Panther struck him from behind. The Avengers later turned the Zodiac LMDs over to the authorities.

(West Coast Avengers II#26) - After being set free from prison, Aquarius joined the Zodiac LMDs in an attack on the human Zodiac Cartel in Dallas, Texas. They managed to kill all of the Cartel members except for Cornelius Van Lunt, and assumed their roles in the criminal underworld.

Later, Aquarius joined the LMDs in an attempt to rob businessmen at a cattle auction in Wichita, but they were interrupted by the West Coast Avengers. Aquarius fought Henry Pym, but fled the battle with the other LMDs when Hawkeye accidentally slew Sagittarius. Afterwards, Aquarius was reprimanded with the others by Scorpio, who was disappointed in them for having run.

(West Coast Avengers II#27) - Later, Aquarius aided the LMDs in ambushing Hawkeye, but was taken out of the fight when Hawkeye cut his gun's cord, causing his electrical energy to stun him, Pisces and Gemini. After Scorpio had replaced Hawkeye with his new Sagittarius LMD, Aquarius attended a meeting with the LMDs as they bickered over how to defeat the Avengers.

(West Coast Avengers II#28) - Aquarius joined the LMDs in robbing the Denver Mint, but they were interrupted by the Avengers, though Scorpio managed to teleport them to Death Valley along with their loot. When the Avengers caught up to them once more, Aquarius clashed with Iron Man, and was incensed when Iron Man casually smashed Capricorn apart. When Scorpio brought the Avengers and LMDs to the Ankh Dimension, hoping to have an advantage, the LMDs were all shut down instead, leaving them immobile in the Ankh Dimension.

Comments: Created by David Kraft, Keith Giffen, Mike Royer, John Tartaglione and Dave Cockrum.

Aquarius is the astrological sign of the water-bearer, but despite being armed with what appeared to be a water tank and a high-pressure water spraying gun, I could find no instances in any of his appearances where he actually shot water (...although it was most likely the intention of the original creators [see his word-balloon in main image]).

In his original Defenders appearances, he didn't do anything but watch the fight and drink a beer; in his later West Coast Avengers appearances, all Aquarius' attacks involved him using electricity.--Ron Fredricks
