BLACK MARIAH

Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Black Mariah is a swift, maneuverable craft, able to carry as many as four people, travel underwater, project a defensive force field, contains radar, communications equipment, scuba gear and jetskis. The Black Mariah-2 was a fighter jet equipped with missiles which could detach its nose from the rest of the plane, and also detach a one-man skiff from its cockpit.
History: (Maximum Security#1)- The Black Mariah was supplied by S.T.A.R.S. to serve as the U.S. Agent's private aircraft. He flew it to a prison in Lurton, Virginia, to examine the extraterrestrials captured by law enforcement officials.
(Maximum Security#2)- The u.S. Agent flew the Black Mariah to Vermont, where he spied upon the activities of the Ruul.
(Maximum Security#3)- After the crisis was averted, the U.S. Agent, Farley Mowat and Ali Magruder set back to the Black Mariah to return to base.
(U.S. Agent II#1)- The U.S. Agent piloted the Black Mariah-2 into Italy to confront HYDRA. Although the Black Mariah was struck down by missiles, the Agent was able to detach the nose section prior to the explosion, then ejected from the nose aboard the skiff to continue his invasion of the base. Subsequently, the Agent piloted a new Black Mariah underwater on a mission to Atlantis.
(U.S. Agent II#2)- Allie Magruder piloted the Black Mariah while Farley Mowat, Kali Vries and the U.S. Agent set out in scuba gear. Later, the U.S. Agent piloted the Black Mariah to Seattle to confront the Power Broker.

"Black Mariah" was once the name given to the black wagon used by police in Boston to carry away prisoners during the 1800's.
