Powers/Abilities: Major Carlson was a knowledgeable doctor, used to working in combat situations from his days in the military.

History: (Avengers I#29 (fb) - BTS) - Major Carlson was an acquaintance of Captain America during World War 2, and Cap had seen his capabilities under combat situations.

(Avengers I#29) - When Goliath fell unconscious after trying to return to his normal size, Captain America summoned Major Carlson for help, as they could not reach Dr. Donald Blake. Major Carlson was surprised to find that his patient was 10 feet tall, but set to work. He was able to determine that Goliath would recover given time, but that he would be unable to return to his normal height without killing himself. Captain America asked him if he was certain of this; Major Carlson replied that nothing was 100% certain, but that unless his condition changed, he would remain 10 feet tall for as long as he lived.

    The sliding timescale makes Carlson 30 years older in Avengers I#29 now than he was at the time the story was written. At some point it will become improbable that Carlson could have been a soldier in World War II, but he's probably still got another decade in him.
