History: (Scarlet Spider Unlimited#1 (fb)) - Miles Warren was once an assistant to the High Evolutionary, but turned against him, and rose up an army of followers for himself at Mount Wundagore who believed Warren's promise to evolve them into a more human appearance. They remained at Mount Wundagore even after the High Evolutionary departed Earth with the New Men to find a new home. Warren performed experiments upon some New Men that succeeded in making them appear human, but it developed into a virus which killed all of its subjects. Warren eventually departed Mount Wundagore to explore the process of cloning.
When Warren returned, he was garbed as the Jackal, his new criminal identity, and the New Men were honored that he had taken on the appearance of a humanoid animal. He later departed to continue his research, only to seemingly perish battling Spider-Man. When the High Evolutionary returned to Earth and found the New Men worshipping a statue of Warren as the Jackal, he destroyed the statue. As a result, the Cult of the Jackal rose up as an underground cult in Wundagore, with the New Man jackal Anubia as their high priestess. Anubia sent spies out into the world of men, and learned of Warren's death. The High Evolutionary was incensed by the memorial service they held for Warren, and released to them false information claiming that Warren had never perfected cloning in order to divide their followers.
(Scarlet Spider Unlimited#1) - When the Scarlet Spider crashed into a temple of the Cult of the Jackal, Anubia recognized him as one of the clones Warren had claimed to have created. Confused at how the Scarlet Spider's account of Warren differed from the High Evolutionary's, Abubia led her followers and the Scarlet Spider into the High Evolutinary's citadel to learn the truth from his lab. They fought his loyal Animen, and Anubia was regressed to her animal form by the High Evolutionary for her disobedience. After the Scarlet Spider learned the truth about Warren from the High Evolutionary, he informed the cult, and Anubia was restored to her humanoid form by the High Evolutionary. The High Evolutionary informed the cult that it was not their destiny to become humans, but that they should take pride at being the equals of mankind.

Anubia was a New Men evolved from a jackal by the High Evolutionary. Because she was of the same species that Miles Warren chose to adopt as an alias, she was held in high regard by Warren's other followers, and became the high priestess of the Cult of the Jackal. Anubia remained loyal to her faith even after the High Evolutionary spread lies about Warren to crush their cult, and with the aid of the Scarlet Spider, eventually learned the truth.
Although Anubia possesses enhanced strength and claws, she was not trained in combat.

Caiman was a New Men evolved from a cayman (a crocodilian) by the High Evolutionary. Caiman joined the Cult of the Jackal and the Scarlet Spider in stealing into the High Evolutionary's citadel to learn the truth about Miles Warren, and fought Komodo and the Flying Fox of the Animen. The battle came to an end when the High Evolutionary and Scarlet Spider revealed the truth about Warren.
Caiman possesses enhanced strength and a tough scaly hide. He lost his tail during the High Evolutionary's evolutionary process.

Harrier was a New Men evolved from a hawk by the High Evolutionary. Harrier joined the Cult of the Jackal and the Scarlet Spider in stealing into the High Evolutionary's citadel to learn the truth about Miles Warren, and fought Buzzard of the Animen. The battle came to an end when the High Evolutionary and Scarlet Spider revealed the truth about Warren.
Harrier possesses wings enabling him to fly.

Piranis was a New Men evolved from a pirahna fish by the High Evolutionary. Piranis joined the Cult of the Jackal and the Scarlet Spider in stealing into the High Evolutionary's citadel to learn the truth about Miles Warren, and fought Crushtacean of the Animen. The battle came to an end when the High Evolutionary and Scarlet Spider revealed the truth about Warren.
Piranis possesses powerful jaws with sharp teeth, which he frequently uses in combat.
