Powers/Abilities: Nails is a highly trained agent. She's very strong and tough and a skilled fighter.

History: (Captain America Annual 2000/2) - As a young girl Joanie was mocked for being overweight. She devoted herself to getting into excellent physical shape.

(Captain America Annual 2000/2) - For the first mission of the Elite Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Joan was sent undercover to a black market bazaar planning to slip into a stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. hovercar and make an escape with it, covered by the other agents. However, when a Hydra agent tried to "handle her merchandise", she blew her cover and beat him. She was then joined by the others in fighting the Hydra forces and the car was returned to Sharon Carter.

(Thunderbolts I#69) - Nails and the others were led by Dum-Dum Dugan to retrieve Blackheath from the Thunderbolts.

(Thunderbolts I#71) - When the Thunderbolts resisted, Songbird created a forcefield and knocked out Nails in the process.

(Iron Man Annual II#1) - Nails was recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. director Tony Stark to participate in a mission to Madripoor to overthrow the Viper's pro-Hydra regime there. Alongside agents Tamara Jones and Tia Senyaka, Nails posed as a romantic companion of Stark's for his cover as a vacationer. Nails helped the team debug Stark's bedroom and set up a feed of them having sex with Stark to fool the Viper (in reality, Stark slept alone on the couch). On a trip to the Foxy Den bar to meet with a S.H.I.E.L.D. contact, Bloodscream and Roughouse burst in, and Bloodscream tried to feed off Nails' life essence, but Stark pulled Bloodscream away from her, leaving only a scar on her chest. Later that night, Viper mobilized a Hydra assault force to attack Stark and the agents at their hotel room, but they bailed out using H.A.W.K. gliders. They met up with Tyger Tiger and Stark convinced her to aid them in overthrowing the Viper and installing her as the new ruler of Madripoor. Nails and the other agents joined Tyger Tiger in the assault on the Viper, which ended with her defeat.

(Secret Warriors#1) - Eaton was listed as Rogue Security at the HAMMER occupied Torch station in SHIELD's agent files.
