Powers/Abilities: Fieldston caused dormant/latent mutations to surface in everyone he touched; this power was not blocked by normal clothing. The sudden change caused the transform into monstrous form and rampage out of control. Even mutants whose powers had already surfaced could be further transformed by activation of dormant mutant genes.
His powers were subsequently altered so that his touch returned those he had previously mutated back to normal. It is uncertain whether he can still cause latent mutations to surface, and if so, whether this is now under his control

History:
(X-Men and Captain Universe: Sleeping Giants#1 (fb) - BTS) - Roger Fieldston is a mutant. His powers went out of control, affecting everyone he touched. Four people were known to have been affected.

(X-Men and Captain Universe: Sleeping Giants#1) - Roger bumped into a woman on a bus, transforming her into a monstrous form. Also present was Jeff Christiansen, who received the Uni-Power to become Captain Universe. The X-Men also arrived to try to subdue the rampaging mutant, but she escaped.

(X-Men and Captain Universe: Sleeping Giants#1 (fb) - BTS) - Professor detailed to the X-Men the known five people who had recently undergone violent mutations, theorizing on how it was a result of dormant/latent mutations being suddenly activated.

(X-Men and Captain Universe: Sleeping Giants#1) - Trying to hide out from the X-Men, Roger tried to lose himself in the crowd at S & A Plaza. However, he bumped into a man, causing him to suddenly mutate. The X-Men and Captain Universe again arrived to try to subdue the rampaging mutant, and Captain Universe and Rogue saw Roger take off into the shadows, and they followed him. Figuring she was protected by her gloves, Rogue grabbed Roger, and she was transformed as well. While the X-Men tried to contain her, Captain Universe was able to calm Roger and then use the Uni-Power to reverse Roger's power. Captain Universe then had Roger touch Rogue, returning her to normal. Captain Universe left (as his powers were fading), but told that Roger could cure all of the other people he had affected.

Professor Xavier theorized that the violent, monstrous transformations were because it was because the people affected were adults, rather than adolescents, as was the case with many mutants. That doesn't really pan out, as plenty of mutants have had their powers surface in adulthood. My guess is that the energy with which he catalyzed his victims super-charged their mutation, pushing them over the edge. Or something.

"Molly Mayfield" and her children, Emma and "Rick," were riding a bus in New York when Roger bumped into her and triggered her mutation. The X-Men and Captain Universe briefly tried to subdue her, though she escaped. Presumably, Roger later reversed her mutation.

While in her mutated form, she was like 10 feet tall, possessed @ 14 tentacles, and was strong enough to hurl a bus through the air.
