Powers/Abilities: Hubie is learned in Avengers history, and has the determination of a hero. He occasionally dressed up as a super-hero.
History: (Avengers Annual#19/4 (fb) - BTS) - Believing that the Sons of the Serpent were active in his area, Hubie contacted local newspapers with information, and also informed Captain America's Stars and Stripes telephone hotline.
(Avengers Annual#19/4) - One day, the hotel where Hubie's parents worked was visited by 5 strangers who gave Hubie their paper from Mason City, featuring a front page headline on the Sons of the Serpent. Hubie was excited to see that his story had been believed. The next morning he patrolled the hotel in his super-hero outfit, much to the disgust of his brother Lucas who called him a baby.
Later that day, Hubie spied the 5 strangers outside his window, only now garbed as the Avengers, and realized that they had come to oppose the Sons of the Serpent. He excitedly followed their clash on the local radio and television coverage until they had been driven off. Excited, he ran to tell Lucas, only to find him dressed in the garb of the Sons of the Serpents' Supreme Serpent, and giving orders to set off bombs in New York and Los Angeles. Hubie went to the Avengers' hotel room and told them about the bombs, identifying his brother as the culprit. He then removed his costume.
The next day, Hubie took down all of the articles on the Avengers that had plastered his walls. He knew that he had done the right thing, and would do so again, but now knew the cost of being a hero.
