History: (Avengers Annual#19/4 (fb) - BTS) - At the age of 22, Lucas led the Sons of the Serpent in stealing a high-tech arsenal of weapons intended for use by S.H.I.E.L.D. This brought the Sons of the Serpents' activities to the attention of the Avengers.

(Avengers Annual#19/4) - Lucas was disgusted at the way his younger brother Hubie worshipped super-heroes, believing that no one from the big cities cared about their small town. Later, his team was attacked by the Avengers, and he was one of the few members to escape them. As he phoned an operative telling him to set off bombs in New York and Los Angeles in retaliation, he found Hubie listening to him, but told him not to tell their parents what he had heard. Instead, Hubie informed the Avengers, who arrested Lucas.
