History: (Avengers I#83) - The Liberators were gathered together by Amora the Enchantress, in the guise of the Valkyrie. She brought the Wasp, the Scarlet Witch, Medusa, and the Black Widow to Avengers Mansion, where she pointed to past instances where the male Avengers had achieved greater notice than the female members. Using her magic, she was able to ensure their loyalty, and they set out to destroy the Avengers.
They found the Avengers in Rutland, Vermont, battling the Masters of Evil. They assisted the Avengers against the Masters, but then turned on them, and defeated all four Avengers. The Valkyrie then had them bring their captives to Miskatonic University, where supposedly the Valkyrie's origin had taken place. Having obtained the Parallel-Time Device of Dr. T.W. Erwin, the Enchantress removed her disguise. She now intended to destroy the Liberators, and cast a spell at them to do so, but the Scarlet Witch cast back a hex which caused Amora to be seemingly destroyed by her own magic.
The Avengers were glad to find the Liberators freed from Amora's magic, and Goliath asserted that they finally "learned your lesson about that women's lib bull!" However, the Scarlet Witch warned "That's what you think-- male chauvinist pig! One of these days, the Liberators will stage a comeback-- right, Jan?" The Wasp agreed.
