History: (Slapstick#3) - The bum found a forgotten storage facility beneath Manhattan. He was there, getting drunk and sitting on barrels of radioactive waste when a nearby electrical junction box overloaded and electrocuted him and the waste. Later, when he asked a man for fifty cents for a cup of coffee and was refused, he caused an explosion that vaporized the man. Realizing what power he had, he then turned to someone else and asked for five dollars for a cup of coffee.
(Slapstick#4) - The Bum continued wandering Manhattan and asking for money, killing all those who ignored him. When he caused an explosion at the Tower Records building, he attracted the attention of Slapstick, whom the Bum exploded. His continued rampage (now asking for "one million bucks for a cuppa coffee!") attracted the attention of the police, military and a host of superheroes, but they could not approach him. As the heroes formulated a plan, Slapstick bought a cup of coffee and ran to the Bum, avoiding his blasts. Slapstick gave the Bum the coffee and as he enjoyed it, Slapstick knocked him out. The Bum was presumably then taken into custody.

The overloaded junction box was caused when Oliver Denton activated his android Teddy.
