History: (The Incredible Hulk vs. The Roller Disco Devils! Hostess ad) - The Roller Disco Devils were terrorizing the town in another of their skating sprees, which kept the children from buying Hostess Fruit Pies. When the music blaring from their boomboxes ("Yeah! Yeah! Baby! Wo! Wo! Rock! Roll! Yeah! Yeah!" - artist unknown) attracted the attention of the Incredible Hulk, the Green Goliath took action. In his blood-thirsty rampage, the Hulk tore up the pavement and rolled the street up around the Devils, crushing them in a scene of unspeakable carnage and making the world once again safe for junk food.

Comments: Created by an uncredited writer and Sal Buscema (penciler)...like anyone was going to sign their name to this ad!
Thanks to Bob Almond for identifying the penciler.

Given their fate at the hands of the Hulk, and due to the fact that they have never returned, one can ASSume that the Roller Disco Devils are dead. Good riddance.

The song "Yeah! Yeah! Baby! Wo! Wo! Rock! Roll! Yeah! Yeah!" is not on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack.

Of all the Hostess villains, only Icemaster has shown up in an Earth-616 title. He could have crossed over to Earth-616 from "Earth-Hostess, " but I say leave them on Earth-616 until proven otherwise. Nonetheless, until they do show up in regular continuity, they remain outside regular canon. Surely someone will write a story teaming them all together--Snood.

This is not true anymore as some Hostess ad villains were mentioned in the Fantastic Four Encyclopedia as natives of Earth-616. And lets not forget about Printout Man in the New Avengers Most Wanted Files.

For God's sake, Busiek, please don't bring these guys into the mainstream - John

You can get the whole story, and some clever commentary from Seanbaby's The Hostess Page. It might not meet with the Comics Code Authority's approval, so kids, ask your parents before checking that out!

Back Issue#130 by TwoMorrows Publishing reveals that the writer of most of the comic book Hostess ads was ad agency copywriter Tony Macchia, although it speculated that Len Wein and Marv Wolfman may have written some of the earlier ones. As for the artists, the ads varied but many were "penciled by Sal Buscema or Ross Andru, with John Romita, Sr., George Tuska, Gene Colan, Gil Kane, Dave Cockrum and Marie Severin among the Marvel Marvelites drawing some of the others. Even then-newcomer Frank Miller drew two of them!" In the case of the Roller Disco Devils, specifically, Bob Almond has already confirmed that Sal Buscema drew this particular strip and the art style definitely matches Sal's. --Proto-Man

you're kidding, right? Who'd even want to be remotely associated with these pathetic losers? Even the Hypno-Hustler's got more pride than to be seen with them. Okay, just to make it official:
