DISINTEGRATOR

Classification: Extraterrestrial technology

Creator: Unrevealed, presumably Kree scientists

User/Possessors: Red Ghost (Ivan Kragoff)

First Appearance: Fantastic Four I#13 (April, 1963)

Powers/Abilities/Functions: The disintegrator could fire a powerful energy beam. It located its targets using sensors within the visible spectrum of sight, making it useless against invisible targets.

History:
(Avengers I#133 (fb) - BTS) - The disintegrator was likely built untold centuries ago, when representatives of the Kree race built the Blue City on Earth's Moon.

(Fantastic Four I#13) - When the Red Ghost first fought the Fantastic Four in the Blue City on the Moon, he managed to discover an ancient disintegrator weapon and brought it under his control. He had the device rigged up behind a wall of stone, and intended to blast the Human Torch (Johnny Storm) with it when he burned through the wall to catch him.

However, the Invisible Girl (Sue Storm) had secretly witnessed the Red Ghost hatch his plot, and she warned her brother off just in time. She pointed out the disintegrator to the Torch, as it could not detect her, and the Torch melted the weapon into slag.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko.

This weapon may be similar in design to the energy cannon that killed the Phoenix in X-Men I#137.

Profile by Prime Eternal. Expansion by Ron Fredricks.
