Type: Divergent Earth
Environment: Earth-like

Significant Locations: The Avengers Mansion in New York City, New York; France; the White House in Washington, D. C.
First Appearance: What If? II#108 (May, 1998)
History: (What If? II#108) - After Carnage's alien symbiote attached itself to the Silver Surfer, Spider-Man was lucky just to dodge his attacks. As the Carnage Cosmic, the Surfer attacked until he was temporarily stopped by the arrival of the Avengers, as well as Justice and Firestar of the New Warriors. Thor quickly threw his hammer at the Carnage Cosmic, but the Carnage Cosmic wrapped the hammer in symbiotic webbing and transformed into a giant spike heading back to Thor's hand. Iron Man managed to use his repulsors to break the symbiotic webbing, returning to use of Thor's hammer. After Captain America kicked the creature, the Vision phased his hand through the Carnage Cosmic's chest and attempted to solidify. When he did so, the Carnage Cosmic altered his own molecules to generate intense feedback into the Vision. Before the Avengers could rally themselves, the Carnage Cosmic blasted them all to the ground and flew off to create for mayhem.
The Avengers returned to Avengers
Mansion to tend to the Vision's injuries as the Carnage Cosmic went global,
causing mayhem wherever he went.
(Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe#3) - The Carnage Cosmic was
briefly and randomly summoned from Earth-985 to Earth-616 by the
chaotic half of Earth-616's cosmic In-Betweener. He immediately began a
rampage of terror alongside Earth-92164's Venom symbiote-possessed
Punisher, as Earth-616's Captain America, Longshot and Blade watched in
shock. Spider-Man (Otto Octavius in Peter Parker's body) managed to
disable Punisher by using his webbing to swing a church bell near the
villain, the sonic vibrations from which separated the symbiote from
Punisher, while the maniacally laughing Carnage Cosmic turned his
attention towards Captain America. Spider-Man yelled that extreme heat
would work against Carnage and an arriving Ghost Rider downed the
Carnage Cosmic with a blast of hellfire.
(Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe#4) - Earth-616's Deadpool,
mentally enslaved by the orderly half of the In-Betweener, stopped
short of killing the Carnage Cosmic to focus on retrieving the mystic
being called Mr. Dapples. Without Deadpool to hold him in place, the
Carnage Cosmic flew off to continue his rampage. The fabric of reality
itself began to unravel until the In-Betweener's two halves were
restored to their singular self and the restoration restored Earth-616
to its proper normalcy, sending the Carnage Cosmic back to Earth-985.
(What If? II#108) - As the Carnage Cosmic's Earth-985 rampage continued, the Avengers discussed the events that led to the Silver Surfer being attached to the Carnage symbiote and how the symbiote had left Cletus Kasady to die. Spider-Man explained that if the symbiote had enough time to permenantly bond with the Surfer, that there might not be any other way to stop him aside from killing him. After altering the molecular structure of the Statue of Liberty, the Carnage Cosmic once again met with the Avengers. The Carnage Cosmic easily bested the Avengers once again until Firestar managed to harm the symbiote enough to allow the Silver Surfer control over his body. Realizing that there was only way to stop the Carnage symbiote, the Silver Surfer flew himself into the sun, destroying both himself and the symbiote.

Clarifications:
No known connection to
THE SILVER SURFER
After the Silver Surfer was bound to the Carnage symbiote, the symbiote took over his form as the Carnage Cosmic. He then went on a worldwide mayhem spree, killing thousands of innocents and battling the Avengers. Briefly summoned to Earth-616 by the chaotic half of the cosmic In-Betweener, Carnage Cosmic began a rampage there alongside numerous other beings from various realities until the In-Betweener's chaotic half was remerged with its orderly half, restoring reality and sending the Carnage Cosmic back to Earth-985. When the Carnage Cosmic resumed his rampages, the Avengers battled the Carnage Cosmic once more and Firestar eventually managed to harm the symbiote enough to allow Silver Surfer to control his body long enough to fly into the sun, killing himself and the symbiote.
